W2W4 This Weekend: Could J'den Fall again?

Weekend #1 wasn’t too bad was it!? The Okey St. 157 saga played out initially, we saw some PSU guys in action as well as the great starts of TOSU’s Freshman.
Weekend #2 will be a juicy one as well, let’s go!
Friday, November 7
Nebraska At Wyoming
125-#11 Tim Lambert, Nebraska v. #10 Tyler Cox, Wyoming renew their rivalry once again. Cox has had the upper hand recently but Lambert has beaten Cox before. We’ll also see #14 Austin Wilson, Nebraska v. #18 Dakota Friesth. Also #19 Ben Stroh of Wyoming will face #12 TJ Dudley of Nebraska.
Saturday, November 8
Brockport/Oklahoma Gold-A few tough weights here. 125 we’ll see super Freshman Ryan MIllhof for Oklahoma try to navigate his first D1 field. 133 features Mack McGuire and Cody Brewer. 157 has Ian Miller and Justin DeAngelis as the top dogs entered.
Northwestern at Stanford
I’m excited to see Connor Schram v. Dom Malone. Will we see Bryce Brill right away at 157 for the Wildcats? At 165 returning All American Pierce Harger will battle Jim Wilson.
Bison Open
Minnesota, and SD State will bring their talented squads up to North Dakota for the Bison Open. This should be our first look at the #1 team in the country right now, Minnesota. With big question marks at 125 and 165 keep an eye out to see if any Gophers emerge from these weights. Also guys like Jake Short at 149 and Michael Kroells at 285 will be huge for the Gophers moving forward
141-Nick Dardanes and Mitch Bengston could be on track for a finals matchup.
157-Dylan Ness and Cody Pack from SD State will likely tangle as Pack looks to land himself beyond just the top 20 conversation.
174-Logan Storley should be here and will likely face Kurtis Julson in the finals.
184-Brett Pfarr and Hayden Zilmer are the class of 184.
197-Scott Schiller will see his biggest challenge from Nathan Rotert in all likelihood.
Cowboy Open- With Air Force, Boise State, Nebraska, Northern Colorado, Wisconsin and Wyoming all sending teams this could be the most talent-rich competition of the weekend.
125-Josh Martinez, Tyler Cox, Tim Lambert and Ryan Taylor should all roll into Wyoming and man this is a salty crew. Taylor is possibly the favorite but Martinez and Cox are right there.
133- Jesse Thielke and Eric Montoya look to be the guys to beat here.
141-Anthony Abidin and Rylan Lubeck look to be the cream of the crop.
149- Justin Arthur may be tough to beat here.
157-Watch James Green be awesome. Hard to see him getting pushed here with Isaac Jordan heading up to 165.
165-Isaac Jordan, Dakota Friesth and Austin Wilson are the best guys here. Tough to see a scenario where Jordan loses.
174-Robert Kokesh and Andy McCulley look like the guys to beat here.
184-TJ Dudley and Ben Stroh once again. X-Factor is Ricky Robertson! Super talent who beat Dudley at Vegas.
197-Timmy McCall will be tough to beat at 97.
285-Connor Medbery’s run to an AA finish starts here.
Harold Nichols Open - Had to guess a little bit on weights because they weren’t listed but it could be a great field highlighted by the 197 lb matchup of Cox v. Gadson.
125-Alan Waters, Stevan Micic and Barlow McGhee make for a very tough top 3 here. Can’t wait to see what Micic does.
133-Matt Manley and Earl Hall are here. What Earl Hall will we see here?
141-Lavion Mayes, John Meeks and Seth Gross are here and you guys know I love Lavion Mayes. Can’t wait to see how he does here. Meeks is an interesting guy to have your eye on as well.
149-Drake Houdashelt and Gabe Moreno are here. I think people forgot how great Drake was last year.
157-Joe LaVallee lookes like the man here.
165-Taylor Walsh, Mike Moreno and Burke Paddock are here. Moreno the favorite but Walsh up a weight is an interesting prospect.
174-Mike England, Tanner Weatherman and Johnny Sebastian will be very interesting as Sebastian looked the part at times last week at the MSU. Still, Weatherman is the guy to beat here.
184-John Eblen, Willie Miklus and Lelund Weatherspoon are here. I’m a fan of Weatherspoon’s game and think he takes this weight impressively.
197-J’den Cox and Kyven Gadson. Do I really need to explain anything else?
285-Brooks Black, Sam Stoll and Devin Mellon are here and the young bucks may be able to take this one. Illinois is counting on Black this year.
Sunday, November 9
Lehigh at Penn State
We’ll get to see the new-look Lions on Sunday. Gulibon v. Beckman won’t disappoint I’m sure. I’m also extremely excited for Matt McCutcheon v. Nate Brown. Elliot Riddick will compete with Morgan McIntosh, and I expect a close one. Who goes at Heavyweight for PSU: Lawson or Gingrich? Time will tell. I suspect we will see Wessell for Lehigh but Vollaro may be the guy here soon.
Rider v. Illinois
This is a sneaky dual because Rider has a lot of very solid guys. They may not be a threat to win the dual, but they’ve got talent. Rob Deutsch v. Zane Richards will be a battle of two top 20 guys. BJ Clagon v. Caleb Ervin will be interesting. I-Mar will be taking on the talented Chad Walsh. Clint Morrison will butt heads with Nikko Reyes as well. Don’t sleep on this dual. Lots of talent.
Jonathan Kaloust Open
125-Darian Cruz, Bricker Dixon, Ben Willeford and Dalton Macri will look for a title this weekend. AA Cruz and Willeford are potentially the most credentialed here, but an upset should surprise nobody as Dixon and Macri are talents.
141- Mark Grey, Todd Preston, Jordan Laster and Will Koll headline this group. Grey will see his first action up a weight. He and Preston look to be destined for the finals but Jordan Laster looked very solid at the All Star last week.
149-Chris Villalonga, Rick Durso and Adam Krop are the class of this field. Durso is up a weight and going to redshirt this year. Could be the most anticipated match of the tournament between these tow.
165-Jon Jay Chavez, Tristan Warner, and Nick Visicaro look to be the front runners here with a mix of youth and experience
174-Bo Nickal, Duke Pickett, Jake Taylor and Dylan Artigliere are the feature members of this field. Cornell I believe is still working through figuring out who will be their guy at this weight. This tournament could go a ways in making that determination.
197-John Bolich, Jace Bennett, James Fox, Kevin Beazley and Abe Ayala give this field a strong EIWA vibe. Bennett is the likely favorite but of these 5 guys it will come down to whoever is hottest.
285-Jacob Aiken Phillips, Riley Shaw and Jeramy Sweany are the class of this weight.
Hokie Open
125: A very tough field with Joey Dance, Sean Boyle, Zeke Moisey and Nick Herrman. Dance is the favorite, but mark my words he will be truly tested here.
133: Vito Pasone, Nick Soto, Josh Terao, George DiCamillo and Kevin Norsterm are the best of the bunch and personally I think George DiCamillo takes this weight with little issue.
141: Chris Vassar, Grant Leeth, Joe Spisak, Joey Ward and Solomon Chishko are all here and more than a few little birdies have told me Chishko is looking NAILS in the room. Let’s see how he does here.
149: Matt Frisch, Christian Barber, Gus Sako, TJ Miller and Devin Carter are set to scrap here. UVA v. VT final LIKELY. The TJ Miller v. Gus Sako dynamic at UVA may be worth keeping an eye on.
157: Immanuel Kerr-Brown, Tommy Gantt, TC Warner, Aaron Walker and Nick Brascetta are here. Look for Brascetta to make a statement.
165: Garrett Peppelman and Chris Moon look like the best guys here. Stoked to see how Peppelman looks.
174: Blaise Butler, Zach Epperly, John Michael Staudenmeyer and Hunter Gamble are here. Personally elated at a potential Butler v. Epperly matchup.
184: Austin Gabel looks like the main guy here.
197: Conner Hartmann, Frank Abbondanza, Chip Ness, Zach Nye and Jared Haught are here. You may think Hartmann is a runaway but Nye has beaten him a few times before.
285: Garrett Grey, Derek Papagianapoloous, Ethan Hayes and Ty Walz complete the field and the UVA dynamic at 285 is one to keep an eye on. Both guys are legit and battling for a starting spot.
