WNO - Olivas vs. Teasdale: The Future is Now

WNO - Olivas vs. Teasdale: The Future is Now

Teammates, now enemies.

In July, Gavin Teasdale and Cade Olivas were partners on the Cadet World Team.

Now, they'll face each other at Who's #1.

It's rare that a wrestler is ranked in the Top 5 before they even step on the mat for a high school bout. But that's the case for our 106lb match at Who's #1.

Olivas and Teasdale, who are ranked #1 and #3 at 106lbs, are also ranked #2 and #3 respectively on the Freshmen Big Board.

Part of the Monster Garage club that brought you hammers Aaron Pico and the Valencia Brothers, Cade Olivas is perhaps the most celebrated youth wrestler of all time, racking up Roller Series titles and making two World Teams before enrolling in high school.

Olivas earned Bronze last year in Greco at Cadet Worlds and was 7th in Freestyle this summer.

His opponent is also a 2014 Cadet World Team member. The latest ammunition in Jody Strittmatter's ever-loaded Young Guns program, Gavin Teasdale has established himself as one of the premier wrestlers in the Freshmen class. Teasdale has already won a Fargo title and reached the medal bout at this year's Cadet World Championships where he took 5th.

Their high school careers are just getting started, but Who's #1 will become part of their legend.

Watch Olivas-Teasdale at Who's #1 on October 18th.
