Sunday Recap
Spencer Mango had some nailbiters, and some show stoppers Sunday morning.

On the last day of the World Championships, Mango led the final U.S. Greco contingent by reaching the Bronze bout after falling in the semi's.

He opened with a slow paced 2-2 win over Turkey's Fatih Ucuncu, scoring the last two points.

Mango did all the work in his second bout where he scored on two head pinches to knock off returning World Bronze Medalist Peter Modos (HUN).

In the quarters, Spenser lit it up, scoring a 5 as he got in on lifts on three different occasions in a blowout tech over Japan's Kuzuma Kuramoto.

Spenser had problems with the underhooks and activity of #4-Mingiyan Semenov in a 9-1 semifinal loss that put him in to the Bronze bout.

Against 11th-ranked Stig Berge, neither wrestler was able to score in neutral. Stig had the first crack at par terre and Mango had a chance in the second period. The only point to go on the board was passivity point for Stig that forced Mango to settle for 5th for the second straight year.

In the night's most anticipated final, 6-time World Champion Hamid Soryan (IRI) trailed 1-1 on the scoreboard and forced a pushout at about the 1 minute mark to beat #4-Mingiyan Semenov (RUS).

American veteran Justin Lester (71KG) , competing in his 7th World/Olympic Championships, went 1-1 while Caylor Williams (98KG) dropped his opening bout.

Iran won the team title, followed by Russia and Turkey.

Friday Recap
Andy Bisek earned the first U.S. medal in Greco since 2009. And he did it in style.

He wowed the crowd in the morning session in one of the most exciting bouts which just happened to be against one of the most accomplished active Greco wrestlers on the planet.

Ranked 14th at 75KG, Bisek was staring down a 5-2 second period deficit to 2012 Olympic Champion Roman Vlasov.

Bisek was able to cut the lead to 5-4 by forcing a passive and scoring two hand-to-hand exposures. When the American corner lost a challenge for full exposure, Bisek was trailing 6-4 with about :30 left.

Continuing to push the pace against a fading Vlasov, Bisek scored a takedown with just seconds to go for the 6-6 win.

As high octane as that bout was, Bisek's quarterfinal was anything but. He fell to #12-Nevin Zugaj (CRO) 1-0 on a second passive caution.

Zugaj would go one to make the finals, pulling Bisek back in to repechage where he again pulled out a win facing a 5-2 deficit in the second period.

In the medal match, Bisek punctuated his medal run with a 4-point lift-and-throw that left his opponent, Hiroyuki Shimzu (JPN), on the mat, and Bisek with an 8-0 tech fall.

Bisek is the first American to win a Senior level World Medal since 2009 when Dremiel Byers (120KG) earned Silver.

The other Greco competitor for the U.S. on Thursday was Jordan Holm (85KG), who lost his opening round bout to #13-Rustam Assakalov (UZB).

Greco action continues tomorrow with Bryce Saddoris (66KG), Joe Rau (80), and Robbie Smith (130KG).
