Brute Wrestler Of The Week: Sam Brancale
Brute Wrestler Of The Week: Sam Brancale
Brancale Shocks #4 Gilman-Earns Brute WOW
Christian Pyles
Ho-hum, another week of wrestling action, 3 National Champs go down. The trend of insanity continues. We had tons of amazing performances this week, and our choice wasn't easy.
However, the magnitude of Sam Brancale's pin points, combined with the epic nature of his upset, made Sam Brancale a great choice for Brute Wrestler of the Week!
Brancale capitalized off of a wild throw attempt from Gilman. Gilman avoided danger initially, but got put on his back again and couldn't get away. The pin for Brancale was the difference in the dual.
Bobby Telford: The Hawkeye heavy got over the hump against 2 time NCAA champ Tony Nelson. He was able to get out on bottom with relentlessly getting to his feet and finally after a few attempts he got away. In sudden victory 1 Bobby earned the winning takedown. Telford was 0-5 against Nelson previously.
Nico Megaludis: Another shakeup at 125! Nico won a wild one against Jesse Delgado. It was Nico's persistence and pace that were ultimately the difference. Nico is 3-2 all time against Delgado at this point.
Mike McClure: The Michigan State heavyweight did what heavyweights all over the country have failed to do: Beat Adam Coon. McClure capitalized on an errant Coon shot for the 5-1 win.
Dylan Ness: He did it again. The most unpredictable and possibly most exciting wrestler in division 1 did what he's done for the last 2 seasons. Put guys on their backs. As time was about to run out, Ness hit his elevator for 5 and stole the match late from National Champ Derek St. John.
Isaac Jordan: Isaac pulled a nice win against Indiana's #4 Taylor Walsh. An early takedown and a 3rd period rideout secured the win for the 12th ranked Freshman from Wisconsin.
