Each week throughout the season, Brute brings you the best performances of the weekend. College or high school, the guys who turned in sterling results are highlighted here.

With the college action pushed back a few days, and High School Holiday tournaments from coast to coast, youngsters dominate the nominees this week. But selecting the guy at the top was quite easy.

Josh Alber of Dakota, Illinois wowed us all.

Coming in to the Dvorak Tournament, Alber had a perfect 3-year record with three state titles and not a single loss on his ledger. To keep that streak going, he'd have to beat Jered Cortez (Glenbard North), in the finals.

Also a 3x State Champion, many consider Cortez among the best wrestlers in the country. And Cortez led early. But Alber battled back with a set of nearfall and a takedown in overtime to keep his perfect record in tact.

Other Nominees This Week:

Tyler Smith, Franklin Regional, PA - Had a dominant victory over #1-Sam Krivus in the finals of Powerade.

Luke Pletcher, Greater Latrobe, PA - Won the most loaded bracket of the weekend. Powerade 120 had #3, #4, #6, #15 along with #2-Pletcher, who beat both Sean Russell and Ethan Lizak.

Dalton Macri, Canon-McMillan, PA - Scored 4 tech falls with scores of 27, 22, 22, and 27 before using a five pointer at the buzzer to upend #5-Ryan Millhof in the finals.

Ryan Schuman, Tri-Valley, SD - Edged Fargo Champion, Seth Gross, 4-3 in the finals of Rumble on the Red.
