CP’s What 2 Watch 4 This Weekend

Christian Pyles

Did you miss me!?  Sorry about last week.  Was knee deep in Vegas work and didn’t get it up.  Here were are back for another week though, and like the weekends before it, we are sure to have some shake-ups.

December 14

Navy v. Boston

At 133 we’ve got two solid guys Dane Harlowe from Boston and Colton Rasche of Navy.  Rasche just had a solid CKLV and Harlowe recently beat Jimmy Gulibon.

Nebraska v. Wisconsin

Solid dual all around here.  At 125 pounds we’ve got Nebraska’s #15  TIm Lambert.  He is looking to rebound off of a 2 and bbq showing at CKLV last week.  He’ll take on another tough Freshman, Ryan Taylor (#10) of Wisconsin.

Moving to 133 #19 Colton McCrystal of Nebraska will be challenged by Wisconsin’s super Senior # 5 Tyler Graff.  Graff is a big favorite in this spot.

On up at 141 we’ve got our Greco World Team member Jesse Thielke taking on Nebraska’s Anthony Abidin.  Abidin just had a breakout tournament showing when he placed 2nd at CKLV.  Thielke is looking for his season to turn the corner, as it’s been tough sledding for the Freshman thus far.

Here’s one I’m super psyched for. #8  Isaac Jordan of Wisconsin against #3 James Green of Nebraska.   Green is still undefeated on the year and is coming off a win at CKLV.  Jordan has been excellent for his Freshman campaign save a loss at the hands of Ian Miller.  Jordan’s top game is probably the path for a win over Green, but Isaac is a considerable underdog. Watch Isaac dominate a very tough Blaise Butler in a match from earlier this season!

#12 Tim Dudley of Nebraska will take on #18 Jackson Hein of Wisconsin.  Dudley had a great CKLV, and Hein has struggled to an extent recently falling to John Rizqallah of MSU.

At heavyweight #9 Connor Medberry of Wisconsin will take on the very solid Collin Jensen of Nebraska.

Oklahoma State v. Wyoming

The marquee match of this dual is probably the showdown between #12 Tyler Cox and currently unranked Eddie Klimara.  Klimara seems to be very much the guy he was last year, so Cox is certainly the favorite.  The talent is there for Klimara, however.

At 157 #2 Alex Dieringer will face Wyoming’s Andy McCulley.  McCulley had a crazy loss at the hands of Brian Murphy at CKLV.  A match McCulley nearly had won.

At 184 #19 Ben Stroh will face one of the 3 Oklahoma State 184’s (Crutchmer,Rogers or Boyd, your guess is as good as mine).  Should be a tough test for Stroh and a very solid match.

Iowa St v. North Dakota St.

Another huge match this weekend as #4 Steven Monk will face #6 Mike Moreno of Iowa State.  Monk won by fall in their meeting a year ago.

UNI Open: D1 Teams Attending: Campbell, Michigan State, Missouri, Northern Iowa and South Dakota State.

Barlow McGhee of Missouri and #9 Dylan Peters of UNI look to be the class of the 125 pound field.

At 165 Cooper Moore of UNI will likely take on Zach Toal of Missouri.  I like Moore in this matchup.

Ryan Loder the 3rd ranked 184 pounder, will be challenged by John Rizqallah of MSU and Mike England of Missouri.  Both guys are unranked but very solid.

After getting a good look at Blaize Cabell at CKLV, I am excited to see how he and Devon Mellon of Missouri do against #8 Mike McClure of MSU.

December 15

CMU v. Michigan

Nothing like a good rivalry!  CMU’s #8 Corey Keener will take on #19 Connor Youtsey of Michigan.  Keener has been rock solid this year and is a favorite here.

At 133 another bout between ranked wrestlers will take place when #15 Joe Roth of CMU battles #17 Rossi Bruno of Michigan.

Edinboro v. Clarion

At 149 #6 Dave Habat of Edinboro is set to take on currently unranked Justin Arthur of Clarion

Ohio v. Appalachain State

Rising star Tywan Claxton of Ohio, hot off his shocking win over Drake Houdashelt will take on the solid, but currently unranked Dylan Cottrell of App State.

Get to know Tywan a little better with this match. It won't be the last you see him.

Ohio State v. Penn State

C’mon now!  You know CP’s got a Superdual Breakdown in the works!  Tune in Sunday for that one!

125, 133, 141, 174, 184, 197 all have ranked v. ranked matchups.  Honestly the PSU backups at 49 and 57 are rankable as well, so throw them into the mix.

December 16

ODU v. Kent State

141 #10 Chris Mecate will face currently unranked Tyler Small

That’s about it for the weekend’s action!  Hope this helps you keep up with the action this weekend as we try to watch IronMan AND the college happenings this weekend.
