Smith and Cowboy Wrestlers to Participate in Google+ Hangout
STILLWATER – Cowboy wrestling coach John Smith along with wrestlers Tyler Caldwell, Alex Dieringer and Chris Perry, will participate in a Google+ Hangout hosted by USA Wrestling on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to discuss the upcoming season.
The Oklahoma State wrestling Google+ Hangout On Air will be broadcast live on the USA Wrestling YouTube Channel.
Fans are encouraged to submit questions for the four panelists on twitter by tweeting them at @USAwrestling and using the hashtag #CowboyHangout.
Coach Smith has won five NCAA Championships while with Oklahoma State in addition to two NWCA National Coach of the Year honors. He most recently led the Pokes to their 46th conference championship and a second-place finish at the NCAA tournament. Smith is a six-time World Champion as an athlete including two Olympic gold medals in 1988 and 1992 respectively.
174-pound wrestler, Chris Perry, won the 2013 NCAA Championship at 174 pounds and will be looking to defend his title in one of the deepest weight classes in the NCAA in 2014. Perry also garnered All-American honors in 2012, placing third at the NCAA Tournament.
Caldwell is a three-time All-American, once for the Cowboys last season after finishing third at 165 pounds, and twice for in-state rival Oklahoma.
Cowboy phenom Alex Dieringer stormed to a third place finish at the NCAA Tournament as a freshman and is looking to stand atop the podium in March. This summer Dieringer was a silver medalist at the Junior World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
