Wrestling Kicks Off at North Dakota State
The
Tigers trek to the Dakotas for a dual meet and an open tournament to start season
COLUMBIA,
Mo. –
The Tiger grapplers are back at it again in their first dual match of the 2013-14 season against North Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 1. Missouri wrestling had an outstanding 2012-2013 season, bringing in its second-consecutive conferencechampionship and sending
all 10 starters to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. The Tigers went 16-3 in dual meets last year and look to continue that dominance in the upcoming season.
Mizzou and NDSU met up last year in Columbia, with Mizzou coming out on top,
37-7. The Tigers won six of eight bouts on the mat, as well as two additional wins by forfeit at 157 pounds and 184 pounds. Former senior-captain Nathan McCormick added a pin at 4:36 in the 133-pound bout to give the Tigers a boost. Drake Houdashelt and Brent
Haynes handed out a couple major decisions at 149 and 197 pounds before heavyweight Dom Bradley came in to cement the victory with a win by technical fall over NDSUÂ’s John Gusewelle.
This will be the third meeting in history between the programs, with Mizzou
holding a 2-0 record against North Dakota State.
