Gophers Land 3-Time PA Finalist Lizak

Minnesota rarely ventures into the Keystone State, but they landed a highly coveted prospect from Pennsylvania today.
Under the tutelage of a name familiar to Minnesota fans, John Trenge, Ethan Lizak (Parkland, Pa) has committed to Coach J. Robinson and the Golden Gophers.
Lizak is a three-time state finalist, winning Gold the last two years at 106 and 113, respectively. He also has been a force on the Freestyle circuit the last two years. In 2012 he placed 3rd in Fargo. This year he won the Junior World Team Trials in Stillwater, Oklahoma at 110lbs, and represented the U.S. at the Junior World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The a Top 100 Prospect in the Class of 2014, Lizak has been ranked in the Top 5 of his weight class the last two years running. Projected as a career 125lber, Lizak states his final college list included Nebraska, Penn State, Pitt, and North Carolina.
In the end, Lizak said it came down to coaching and tradition.
"I had a great time meeting the wrestlers, and I feel I can learn a lot from Coach Robinson and Coach Eggum. I also like that they have a strong wrestling tradition. I will have some great workout partners also. It just felt like the right decision."
