Elite Recruits Flying off the Shelves

Recruiting was fast and furious early in the week. Several weeks into the signing period, with campus visits and college football games the norm, ten Top 100 recruits came off the board this week already.
Huskers Double Dip in the Northwest
It’s been a rather quiet year for Nebraska on the recruiting front. The Huskers have been one of the most consistent programs in the country when it comes to turning in quality recruiting classes. In the last five years, I’ve tabbed their hauls: #3, #11, #1, #10, #3.
Until today, Nebraska had just two commitments: #62-Derek White (OK,197) and #79-Colton Adams (NE, 133/141). But their Class of 2014 haul erupted today with two of the top prospects in the country.
Three-time State Champions, Hayden Tuma (Centennial, ID) and Tyler Berger (Crook County, OR) both pledged to Coach Mark Manning.
Tuma is ranked as the #23 recruit in the country on our SR Big Board. He’s widely regarded as the best Greco Roman wrestler currently in high school in the U.S. Tuma has been a staple on the Fargo podium winning multiple crowns in Greco. He’s projected as a 141/149lber at the next level. He’s ranked #4 at 138lbs in the latest FloRankings.
Berger is the reigning FloNationals Champ. Ranked #17 on the Big Board, he’s noted as an all-around stud that’s particularly adept at riding and turning. His most recent national performance saw him place 3rd at FILA Cadets in Akron, Ohio, this spring at 138lbs. A growth spurt currently has him projected at 157. He’ll compete at 145lbs at Who’s #1 next month, and is tabbed as the #4 wrestler at that weight right now.
Dustin Williams, considered by many to be a sleeper in this class, also pledged to Nebraska late Tuesday.

After the flurry (which won’t slow down any time soon), the SR Big Board has been decimated.
Of the Top 100 Sr Recruits, only 28 remain available. Leading the list are #9-Joey McKenna (NJ, 141), #13-Sam Stoll (MN, HWT), and #15-Johnny Sebastian (NJ, 182).
