Three Lehigh University wrestlers: Mitch Minotti, Laike Gardner and Mason Beckman, are in Ajinmoto learning and working out at Japan's National Training Center. They will be providing a daily blog to FLO documenting their trip and experiences. It all began from JFK airport in New York to Seattle to Tokyo-Haneda Airport.

August 15th - Another Practice, Another Run (by Laike)

Today we had two workouts. The first was a run in the morning and the second was a wrestling workout. We said our goodbyes to Mason who headed home this evening for his father's wedding.

We were promised by our friend that we would have an easier run today. It was anything but easier. We did four laps this morning at the wooded running trail. Then we moved onto sprints. The sprints we did were a ladder system starting very long, roughly 200 yards, and moving down every few sprints until we were running maybe 20 yards at a time. Then we continued by doing bear crawls and other similar exercises.

This afternoon's wrestling session was led by Kenichi Yumoto like all the other Freestyle sessions. To save some of you a google search, Yumoto was an Olympian at London. He lost to Coleman Scott, of the USA, in the bronze medal match, so he's pretty good. Our warm up was much shorter than normal and then after that we rolled right into wrestling. We started by shooting, and whenever you got in, you went live. Then we did matches. I did six matches today if I remember correctly. After that we did ten one-minute goes. Overall I think we had about an hour and a half of live wrestling today.

Sorry for the delay of the blog tonight, we experienced some technical difficulties (meaning I'm an idiot). Also sorry for the blandness, this is now the second time I've written this and the grind is starting to get to us. We tried to combat the hurt tonight with some ice cream. It was only a temporary fix!

Mitch and I are missing home. Some of the things we miss most are:
 - Our own beds!! They just sleep on pads here not actual mattresses!
 - American Food
 - Television in English
 - Mason
 - Our teammates back home
