Cowboy Wrestling volunteer assistant takes home bronze medal in Poland

SPALA, Poland (Aug. 13, 2013) Just one week after earning a gold medal in a competition, University of Wyoming wrestling volunteer assistant Clayton Foster added more hardware to his collection over the weekend.

Foster came away with a bronze medal after finishing third in the Ziolkowski Memorial International freestyle competition on Saturday in Spala, Poland, at 84 kilograms/185 pounds. The performance came on the heels of his showing in a competition in Armenia on Aug. 3, when he earned a gold medal.

Foster, wrestling in association with GRIT Athletics/Wyoming Regional Training Center, was among a pair of bronze medalists at the weight who wrestled for the U.S. wrestling contingent. The other medalist at the weight was Chris Perry, a 2013 NCAA title-winner for Oklahoma State.

Foster opened the latest competition with a win over Semyon Semyonov of Kazakhstan, 6-2, but fell to Serdar Boke of Turkey in his second bout, 0-7. When Boke reached the finals, Foster earned his way back into the competition. In his first match back, Foster scored an 8-0 technical fall over 2012 Olympic silver medalist Jaimie Espinal of Puerto Rico. His bronze medal victory was over Armandis Zvirbuilis of Latvia, an 8-0 technical fall.
