Scott Defeats Sanaa of Russia in NYC
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State wrestlers Coleman Scott and Obe Blanc competed at Beat the Street’s Rumble on the Rails event at Grand Central Station
in New York City on Wednesday. The event featured a pair of duals for Team USA against Iran and Russia.
In the first bout vs. Iran, Blanc looked to start it off right for the Americans. He faced Hassan Rahimi in a tight match that went to three periods.
Blanc grabbed the first period, 1-0, pushing Rahimi out of bounds with just seconds left. Rahimi answered with second and third period wins, edging Blanc, 0-1, 1-0, 4-2.
Team USA went on to win only one bout in the dual, falling to Iran, 6-1.
Scott represented the United States in the opening match against Russia at 60 kilograms, where he faced Artas Sanaa. ScottÂ’s takedown late in the first
period gave him an advantage as he entered the second period with a 1-0 win under his belt. Sanaa put up a fight in the second, taking a 1-0 win of his own in the clinch, but Scott would put him away with a blast double and exposure to take the third period
and the match, 1-0, 0-1, 3-0.
ScottÂ’s win helped spur the U.S. to an 8-1 win over Russia to close out the event.
Scott, along with OSU alumni Jordan Oliver, Chris Pendleton and Clayton Foster, will compete on Sunday in Los Angeles, Calif., as Team USA takes on Iran
once again.
