Ending months of speculation, one of the country's best young wrestlers announced his plans for the future on Sunday.
Destin McCauley will be a Husker.
One of the most promising stars coming out of Apple Valley (MN) High School, McCauley won five state titles, multiple Fargo crowns, and racked up several Wrestler of the Year honors when he graduated in 2011.
McCauley wavered between wrestling at the collegiate level and training freestyle full time. Originally committing to Iowa State but not enrolling, McCauley has spent much of the last two years at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Last May, McCauley won Fila Juniors and Fila JR World Team Trials, defeating Hunter Stieber of Ohio State in the finals.
He projects as a 149/157lber for Nebraska.
