Wrestling Defeats CAA Opponent Boston University, 22-12

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Drexel wrestling squad took down conference opponent Boston University on Friday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.  The Dragons defeated the Terriers, 22-12, improving their record to 7-9 overall, 3-2 in CAA action. Boston University fell to 7-5 overall and 1-4 in conference.

 

The dual started off at 197 with a forfeit from Boston University, giving Brandon Palik the win. The Terriers followed by taking a victory at 285, putting the team score at 6-3. Freshman Jacob Goodwin then came out strong at 125 to secure a 12-4 major decision to put the Drexel ahead 10-3.

 

The Dragons gained speed with decisions from Jordan Hart at 133 and Frank Cimato at 141, but the Terriers fought back to take victories in the 149, 157, and 165 bouts, bringing Boston within four points and putting the score at 16-12. Kevin Matyas followed with a strong performance at 174, earning a 6-5 decision to give Drexel some room to breathe. Bryan Sternlieb finished off the dual with another close match, earning a 3-2 decision in the final seconds of the bout.

 

 Next up, the Dragons will head to Lancaster, Pa. to take on Franklin & Marshall on Friday, February 8 with matches beginning at 7 p.m.
