Taylor - Dake: Match of the Century
Willie Saylor, Editor
The much anticipated clash of titans is on. Penn State’s two-time NCAA Finalist, David Taylor, and Cornell’s three-time NCAA Champion, Kyle Dake will meet at the All-Star Classic on November 3rd in a match-up with more hype and fanfare than any single bout college wrestling history. And that’s not hyperbole.
An offensive juggernaut, Taylor has a bonus point ratio up there with the All Time Greats. On the flip side, Kyle Dake is on pace to make NCAA history by becoming the first wrestler to win four NCAA Championships in four different weight classes.
American University’s Bender Arena is already sold out; it’s the first sell out of the All Star Classic since 2001. For those not in attendance, the event will be webcast on Flowrestling via Technique Wave.
That they’re wrestling in the first event of the season, and that they have multiple potential meetings slated this year, Dake-Taylor could be a series of epic proportions. It prompts us to recall some of the greatest rivalries and marquee events history.
