Beaver Wrestlers to Hold Open Practice for Public on Saturday
The ninth ranked team in the nation heading into 2012-13 will practice in front of fans before OSU’s football game with Washington State
CORVALLIS, Ore. – OSU wrestling fans will get a chance to have a sneak peek at their
2012-13 Beavers this Saturday as the team plans to hold a practice that is open to the public before Oregon State’s football game with Washington State.
The Beavers, ranked ninth in the nation by D1 Wrestling coming into the regular season began having open practices late last month, but this will be the first that is open to
the public. The rare Saturday practice will start at 12 p.m. on Oct. 6 and will be held in the Dale Thomas Wrestling Room, located on the second floor of the Sports Performance Center, just across from Reser Stadium.
The practice is one of almost a dozen before the team’s first official one, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 10. That is also when Coach Jim Zalesky is expected to announce the team
captains for the coming season.
Oregon State will practice in a three-day a week format until late October, at which time they will hit the mats on a daily basis. The Beavers are coming off a year in which they
went 9-2 and were Pac-12 champions. Jim Zalesky’s crew returns eight starters from a year ago including All-Americans Mike Mangrum and Scott Sakaguchi.
