Oliver, Rogers win Schalles Awards

STILLWATER, Okla.—Oklahoma State wrestler Jordan Oliver was named the collegiate Schalles Award winner along with OSU signee, Jordan Rogers, who won the Junior Schalles Award, which is presented to the nation’s top collegiate and high school pinners by WIN and Cliff Keen Athletics.
Oliver, a three-time All-American, finished his junior season with a 28-2 overall record while racking up 18 pins. The Easton, Pa., native pinned his first 10 opponents of the 2011-12 season, nine of which were in the first period. Oliver earned five first period falls at the Reno Tournament of Champions, where he took home the 133-pound title. He pinned three more at the NCAA Championships to take second place.
Rogers, who will be enrolling in the fall, had an outstanding senior season in which he pinned all 42 of his opponents while wrestling at 182 pounds for Mead High School in Spokane, Wash. The future Cowboy’s quickest pin came at the Washington State 4A Championship when he pinned his opponent in 11 seconds, on his way to claiming his third state title.
The award is named after Wade Schalles, who wrestled for Clarion (Pa.) State and pinned 109 of 159 opponents during his collegiate career.
