Beavers Aim For A
Pac-12 Title> The Beavers make the trek to Boise, Idaho
for the 2012 Pac-12 Conference Championships. Session one starts at 10 a.m. PT
(11 a.m. in Boise) while session two is slated for 3 p.m. PT (4 p.m. in Boise).
It is being held at Taco Bell Arena.

Beavers Going For
First Ever Pac-12 Title> OSU has won seven league titles, but
the team will be looking for the first ever Pac-12 title in 2012. The Beavers
last won in 2010 and have two under head coach Jim Zalesky as OSU also took
first in 2007. Oregon State and Boise State have combined to win the last five
titles.
Seeding> The
league’s coaches will attend a seeding meeting on Saturday night prior to
the event where they will determine the Nos. 1-6 spots in each weight class.

Jack And The
Heavyweight Class> Clayton Jack, at 32-1 this season, is the
favorite to win the heavyweight class at the championships. He’s looking
to become the league’s first back-to-back-winner at that weight class
since Arizona State’s Cain Velasquez in 2005 and 2006.
Meanwhile, At Other
Classes> The Beavers are hoping to make a little
history at the Pac-12 Championships. Since 1999, when weight classes were
changed to what they are today, the Beavers have never won an individual title
at 125, 133 and 141. Pat Rollins (125), Garrett Drucker (133) and Mike Mangrum
(141) should each be ranked in the upper half of their classes and have a chance
at that first title.
Going For 3 More
Wins> Conceivably, it will take three wins for Clayton Jack to
win the heavyweight class for a second straight year. The senior has 114 wins
for his career and three more would give him 117, and tied for 11th-most in a
career at Oregon State.
Want To Be No. 8> RJ
Pena has 19 pins this season and with a 20th, would become the eighth Oregon
State wrestler, regardless of weight class, to reach 20 in a single season.
Sakaguchi’s
Great Percentage>
Scott Sakaguchi has won 10 consecutive bouts to give him a 31-5 mark this
season and a winning percentage of .861. That is just shy of 10th for best in
a single season by a sophomore at OSU, trailing Howard Harris’ (45-7)
mark of .865 in 1978.
