Big 12 Champs
With Oklahoma State’s win over Oklahoma in Norman, the Cowboys clinched the inaugural Big 12 wrestling regular season championship. For the first time, the league’s four wrestling squads are playing a six-match, double round-robin Conference schedule to determine a regular season champion.

Familiar Territory
Oklahoma State has won an impressive eight National Duals titles since the event’s inception in 1989, claiming the crown in 1989, 1990, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2003, 2004 and 2005. OSU is 59-11 all-time at the event and its eleven championship appearances are the most ever, with Iowa’s eight appearances ranking second. Only thirteen teams have made it to the finals.

Unblemished
Of Oklahoma State’s athletes who have started a dual, three are still unbeaten. No. 2 Jamal Parks is 25-0 and No. 3 Chris Perry is 21-0. No. 3 Alan Gelogaev, although he lost to Chad Hanke at the Reno Tournament of Champions, still boasts a 24-0 record because Hanke is taking an Olympic redshirt year and the bout does not count toward his record.

‘Z’ Makes SI’s “Faces in the Crowd”
Heavyweight wrestler Alan Gelogaev was one of six athletes featured in the Feb. 13 edition of Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” after picking up a pair of top-10 wins over Levi Cooper (Arizona State) and Matt Gibson (Iowa State). SI has been running the feature highlighting standout amateur athletes since 1956.

Oliver Picks Up Fourth Big 12 Honor
Oliver was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Feb. 13 for his performance in the NWCA National Duals. He helped lead the Cowboys to the NWCA Mat Mayhem Stillwater region title as he downed two ranked opponents including a 7-3 decision over No. 2 Logan Stieber of Ohio State. Last season, Oliver became the first Big 12 wrestler to be honored three times in one season, making this his fourth career honor.

‘Z’ Best in the Big 12
Oklahoma State heavyweight starter Alan Gelogaev was selected as the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 23 for his pair of top 10 wins, including a 6-1 win over No. 9 Levi Cooper of Arizona State and a 13-1 major decision over No. 10 Matt Gibson of Iowa State. It was his first time to receive the award and the first honor for OSU this year.

Record Keepers
When Oklahoma State edged Iowa, 17-16, on Jan. 7, its win was much more than just upsetting the No. 1 team on their home mat in front of a sold out crowd. The Cowboys ended the Hawkeyes’ unbeaten dual streak at 84, keeping their own record-streak of 84, set from 1959-66, tied for the best ever. OSU also bookended the Hawkeyes’ streak, defeating them on Jan. 5, 2008, in their last loss before it began.

Welcome to the 100 Club
With his 5-0 championship performance at the Reno Tournament of Champions, OSU senior Jamal Parks became the 34th wrestler in school history to reach 100 career wins. The 149-pounder now holds a 114-22 record and ranks tied for 19th all-time at OSU in career wins. Cayle Byers has also reached the 100-win mark. Although his record at OSU is 20-3, His career mark is 104-21 when his 84-18 record at George Mason is included
