Chasing Another Milestone
Although the Oklahoma State wrestling program is far and away the best in NCAA history when looking at winning percentage and championships, there is still a mark the Cowboys have yet to achieve. A win over Iowa this week would give the OSU wrestling program a tie with Iowa State for the most all-time dual wins. The Cowboys currently sit at 1,011 all-time wins, compared to the Cyclones 1,012 with their Jan. 3 win over Arizona State. However, ISU has wrestled 166 more times in dual competition.

Welcome to the 100 Club, Mr. Parks
With his 5-0 championship performance at the Reno Tournament of Champions, OSU senior Jamal Parks became the 34th wrestler in school history to reach 100 career wins. The 149-pounder now holds a 104-22 record and ranks 28th all-time at OSU in career wins. A win at Iowa would put him three wins behind No. 27 Brandon Mason.

Unblemished
Of Oklahoma State’s athletes who have started a dual this season, three are still unbeaten. Jordan Oliver is 10-0, Jamal Parks is 15-0 and Chris Perry is 11-0.

Returning All-Americans
OSU has three of the nation’s best wrestlers in 133-pounder Jordan Oliver, 149-pounder Jamal Parks and heavyweight Alan Gelogaev. Oliver is coming off of a perfect 29-0 season, winning the 2011 NCAA individual championship at 133 pounds. His record included 24 bonus-point wins and his 82.8 bonus-point win percentage was the fifth-highest single-season mark in Oklahoma State history. Parks earned All-America status for the first time last year with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. He finished with a 30-5 overall record that included six wins over ranked opponents and three wins over eventual All-Americans. Gelogaev returns to the Cowboys lineup after taking a medical redshirt last year with a chest injury that forced him to miss the entire 2010-11 dual season. Before that injury, he earned All-America honors wrestling at 197 pounds in 2010, his first year to ever wrestle at the collegiate level. He placed seventh at that year’s NCAA Championships.

NWCA All-Stars
The NWCA All-Star Classic wrapped up the 46th edition of the annual event on Nov. 21 in Tempe, Ariz. Cowboy wrestlers Jordan Oliver and Jamal Parks both put together impressive showings as each came home from the event with a win. Oliver took down one of the top wrestlers in the country, defeating third-ranked B.J. Futrell of Illinois, 8-7. Parks stormed past Arizona State’s Joel Smith with a 17-4 major decision.

New Kids on the Block
Oklahoma State welcomes a pair of senior transfers this season that have a chance to make a big impact on the program.

Cayle Byers comes to Oklahoma State after wrestling the previous three years at George Mason. The 197-pounder was just a single win away from earning All-America honors two years ago and is one of the top wrestlers in 2011-12, ranked in the top-10 of his weight class by Amateur Wrestling News, Intermat.com and WIN Magazine. He is 12-3 this year and earned a major decision in his first dual as a Cowboy.

Chris Chionuma comes to OSU after three huge seasons at NAIA Lindenwood. He earned the 2011 NAIA individual title at 174 pounds with a 40-3 record. His junior season included 12 major decisions, eight pins and six tech falls. He also earned All-America honors for his second-place finish in 2010 and his fifth-place finish in 2009. He has already impressed coaches in the wrestling room and hopes to crack the starting lineup at some point in the year. He is a perfect 11-0 on the year and won the 165-pound titles at the UCM Open, FHSU-Bob Smith Open and UNK Loper Open, his first events as a Cowboy.

Blake Rosholt is the youngest of the Rosholt family. His older brother Jake was a three-time NCAA champion at OSU and another older brother, Jared, was a three-time All-American for the Cowboys. Older sister Jesyca was an all-Big 12 soccer player for Oklahoma State as well. Dallas Bailey’s father, Leo, was a two-time All-American wrestler for the Cowboys in 1983 and 1986.
