Ohio State in the Rankings

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released the first NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll of the season Thursday and the Buckeyes are ranked 13th. Ohio State earned 110 points in the Top 25 poll. Rankings will be released every Tuesday until the NCAA championships in March.

In the Intermatwrestle.com standings, the Scarlet and Gray are tied for ninth with Illinois. Individually, redshirt-freshman Logan Stieber is the No. 5 wrestler in the nation at 133 pounds. L. Stieber’s younger brother, Hunter Stieber, enters the 149-pound rankings at No. 19. Freshman Derek Garcia is seventh in the 165-pound poll, while 2010 Big Ten runner-up Nick Heflin is fourth at 174 pounds. Freshman Andrew Campolattano cracks the Top 20 with a No. 14 placing at 197 pounds.

2011-12 Team Captains

Nick Heflin, C.J. Magrum and Logan Stieber were named 2011-12 team captains head coach Tom Ryan announced Wednesday.
