Flowrestling will be doing a live Twitter interview with UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz tomorrow, July 20 a noon central. I met Dominick nearly 3 years ago at a training camp in PA when he was 1-1 in the WEC and have had the opportunity to meet up with and see him train several times since then. He has been telling me with conviction ever since I met him that he was going to be a world champion, and holy crap now he is!

Dominick Cruz wrestled in high school in Arizona and I believe took 5th place in the state tournament his senior year, a nice accomplishment but not someone you would expect to become a world champion. What I have seen in him and his training though, is that wrestler spirit, grinding out long hours day in and day out, working until exhaustion and then pushing a little harder, making adjustments and sacrifices in his life to fit his training schedule.

I watched him win one fight after the another and move from the undercard to the main card, to a title shot. Once he got in title shot contention most people doubted him fight after fight, but he just kept winning and winning. He is a guy that I have a lot of respect for, he was living in a pool house for heaven's sake even after he won the WEC title, might still be I will have to ask.
