Here are four Iranian wrestlers to watch at the Senior World Championships.
Hassan Yazdani, 97 kg
Few wrestlers in the world bring the name recognition or resume of Hassan Yazdani.
The Iranian star is an Olympic champion and multiple-time world champion who has spent years competing against the best wrestlers in the sport.
Yazdani is known for his relentless pace, powerful attacks and ability to turn seemingly even matches into high-scoring affairs. His rivalry with American David Taylor became one of the defining storylines in international wrestling, helping establish Yazdani as one of the sport's biggest stars.
The move to 97 kg presents another major challenge. The division features elite competition, including American Kyle Snyder and Bahrain's Akhmed Tazhudinov, both of whom have championship credentials of their own.
Yazdani's experience makes him an intriguing wrestler in the bracket. If he can impose his style against the division's biggest names, he will have a chance to add another major accomplishment to his already impressive career.
Amir Hossein Zare, 125 kg
Iran's heavyweight hopes rest in large part on Amir Hossein Zare, one of the world's premier wrestlers at 125 kg.
Zare has established himself as a world champion through a combination of strength, mobility and technical ability. Unlike heavyweights who rely primarily on size, he can move well across the mat and create scoring opportunities through aggressive attacks.
The 125 kg division is always unpredictable, with one takedown or exposure sequence capable of deciding a match. Zare's international experience gives him an advantage in navigating those high-pressure situations.
He will face a deep field of heavyweight contenders, including American Wyatt Hendrickson and other accomplished international wrestlers. A strong tournament from Zare would give Iran another major opportunity to claim a world title.
Rahman Amouzad, 65 kg
Rahman Amouzad is one of Iran's most exciting wrestlers to watch at 65 kg.
A world champion, Amouzad has demonstrated that he can compete with the best in international freestyle wrestling. His aggressive approach and ability to create offense from different positions make him a difficult opponent to prepare for.
The 65 kg division is among the most competitive in the sport, with accomplished wrestlers from several wrestling powerhouses capable of making a run at gold. Amouzad's experience at the world level will be important as he works through a challenging bracket.
His ability to dictate the pace and capitalize on scoring opportunities makes him a legitimate contender. If he finds his rhythm early, Amouzad could become one of Iran's biggest medal threats.
Kamran Ghasempour, 86 kg
Kamran Ghasempour gives Iran another proven champion in a loaded weight class.
A two-time world champion, Ghasempour has already shown that he can deliver at the highest level. His physical style, strength in close positions and ability to generate offense make him a difficult matchup for international opponents.
At 86 kg, Ghasempour could encounter a challenging field featuring multiple world-class competitors. The division's depth means that even early rounds can present difficult tests, leaving little room for mistakes.
Ghasempour's championship background makes him one of Iran's key wrestlers to watch. If he can navigate the bracket and reach the medal rounds, he has the experience and ability to challenge for another world title.
