Here are five things to know about the event.
1. The Journeymen Fall Classic Kicks Off The National Wrestling Season
Held each October, the Journeymen Fall Classic serves as one of the first major opportunities for wrestlers to test themselves against elite competition before the high school season begins.
The event often features matchups between nationally ranked wrestlers who may not see each other again until postseason competition.
2. Wrestlers From Across The Country Compete
The tournament regularly attracts competitors from some of the nation's strongest wrestling states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California and others.
Because of the event's national reach, wrestlers often face opponents they would not normally encounter during their state schedules.
3. National Rankings Will Be Impacted
Strong performances at the Journeymen Fall Classic frequently influence early-season national rankings.
Victories over highly ranked opponents can help wrestlers establish themselves among the country's elite before the regular season gets underway.
4. Future NCAA Stars Often Compete
Many wrestlers who have appeared at the Journeymen Fall Classic have gone on to successful collegiate careers at top Division I programs.
The event provides fans and college coaches an early look at some of the nation's most promising young talent.
