Iowa State wrestling has announced its 2026-27 schedule, a slate that features the annual Cy-Hawk dual against Iowa, a home matchup with Oklahoma State and appearances at several major tournaments throughout the season.

The 2026-27 season marks a new era for the Cyclones. Longtime head coach Kevin Dresser has moved into the newly created role of Director of Men's and Women's Wrestling, while Brent Metcalf takes over after spending the previous nine seasons on Iowa State's staff.
The Cyclones bring back NCAA All-American MJ Gaitan, who earned an eighth-place finish at 174 pounds in 2026, along with returning NCAA qualifiers Garrett Grice, Jacob Frost and Connor Euton. Former NCAA All-American Evan Frost and NCAA qualifier Paniro Johnson also remain on the roster, providing veteran leadership and depth as Iowa State looks to remain among the Big 12's top programs.

Key Matchups On Iowa State's Schedule
Iowa State's season begins with several early tests, including a road trip to Iowa on Nov. 22 for the annual Cy-Hawk rivalry dual. The matchup remains one of the most anticipated events on the college wrestling calendar each year.
The Cyclones then head to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the National Duals Invitational on Dec. 12-13 before returning to competition at the Soldier Salute on Jan. 2-3 in Coralville, Iowa.
Conference action ramps up in January with home duals against Arizona State and Wyoming. Iowa State also hosts Oklahoma before welcoming Oklahoma State to Ames on Jan. 31.
The final stretch of the regular season features a road trip to in-state rival Northern Iowa on Feb. 12 before the Cyclones close the regular season at Missouri on Feb. 17 and turn their attention to the Big 12 Championships and NCAA Championships.
When Are The NCAA Wrestling Championships 2027?
The 2027 NCAA Wrestling Championships are scheduled for March 18-20 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
