Smith enters the event as one of the UFC's fastest-rising welterweight prospects. The undefeated fighter is scheduled to face Bruce Whitehead and will look to continue the momentum that has carried him to a perfect professional record.

For wrestling fans, Smith's appearance represents another opportunity to watch a former NCAA standout compete on one of mixed martial arts' biggest stages.

Jacobe Smith Was An NCAA All-American At Oklahoma State

Long before he began climbing the UFC rankings, Smith established himself as one of the nation's top collegiate wrestlers.

The Oklahoma native won two NJCAA national titles at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M before transferring to Oklahoma State, where he became an NCAA Division I All-American for the Cowboys in 2018.

Smith wrestled under Hall of Fame coach John Smith and competed against many of the nation's best wrestlers during his collegiate career. His aggressive offensive style helped make him one of Oklahoma State's top performers and laid the foundation for his future success in mixed martial arts.

Smith Has Quickly Become A UFC Contender

Since transitioning to MMA, Smith has emerged as one of the most promising wrestlers to enter the UFC.

After earning a contract through Dana White's Contender Series, Smith has remained unbeaten as a professional and has won each of his UFC appearances by stoppage.

His combination of high-level wrestling, physicality and finishing ability has made him a difficult matchup for opponents. Several of his victories have come in dominant fashion, showcasing the same pressure and control that helped him succeed on the wrestling mat.

Who Is Jacobe Smith Fighting At UFC 332?

Smith is scheduled to face Bruce Whitehead at UFC 332 on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Whitehead enters the matchup with an 8-2 professional record and will be making his UFC debut. The bout gives Smith another opportunity to build his resume against a new opponent as he continues his climb in the welterweight division.

UFC 332 will take place at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City and features a vacant UFC women's flyweight championship bout in the main event.
