Final results from the 2026 Final X Wrestle-Off from Hilliard Davidson High School outside Columbus, Ohio

• 65kg: Bo Bassett defeats Real Woods, 2 matches to 0

• 76kg: Dymond Guilford defeats Kylie Welker, 2 matches 1

• 68kg: Kennedy Blades defeats Bella Mir by forfeit

1st period: These two have wrestled each other 8 times, with Welker holding a 6-2 advantage. This may be the most important one of their lifetime series. Early passivity call on Guilford. No scores after one minute. Welker reaches in for a leg but Guilford breaks free. More handfighting. Now the second passivity on Guilford. She gives up the point and Welker leads 1-0. Welker leads on the head, and I think gets called for pulling Dymond's hair? Was tough to see but the caution and 1 is confirmed and now it's 1-1 with Guilford leading by criteria. 

2nd period: Welker should be thinking about offense here as Guilford's already been on the clock. Guilford active off the whistle. Welker goes for a headlock but Guilford will stop that attempt and get a go behind for a 3-1 lead. Could it have been a slip, or 'risk' and no points awarded? Potentially, but no challenge so back to the center. Welker needs more than a takedown. Welker picking up the pace. Some nice attacks but Guilford's defense holds. 90 seconds remain. Welker in on a deep shot, she gets behind Guilford's back but Guilford is on her feet and no takedown. Guilford still fighting, and she's free, great defense by Dymond. And Guilford gets the go behind on the next exchange and it's 5-1. Another flurry and Guilford runs it up to 7-1. Guilford 30 seconds away from a monster comeback. Welker looking for a big throw but she'll be denied. Huge win. Incredibly gutsy performance by Dymond Guilford and she completes the best performance of her career the close out the Final X Wrestle-Off from Hilliard Davidson High School!

Guilford makes her second senior world team! Team USA is finalized and we have our complete squad that's headed to Astana, Kazakhstan!

1st period: Can Woods reverse the results from earlier and force a match 3 as Dymond Guilford just did? Woods is gunning for his second Senior World Team, Bassett is taking aim at his first, though he did win a U20 gold medal this summer and is also on the U23 World Team that competes in October. Unsurprisingly, the hands start flying as soon as the whistle blows. Woods Working a Russian tie. Bassett hit for passivity first. 90 seconds in and it's still 0-0. Woods pushing Bassett toward the edge and Bassett grabs a fistful of singlet. The ref notices and hits Bo with a penalty. It's confirmed and Woods takes the 1-0 lead. The penalty happened in par terre so they restart down on the mat. Bassett wrestles to his feet and we're back in neutral. Bassett shoots and gets hold of a single leg. Woods defends but Bassett locks up a cradle. It's a battle on the mat. They continue to battle but Woods breaks the grip and they're back to neutral. On the restart Bassett gets in on another single and drives Woods out of bounds to knot up the score 1-1. Woods leads on criteria because of the caution. And that's how the period ends. 

2nd period: Woods shoots early and he converts to take the outright lead 3-1. Locks up a gut and powers Bassett over and Real leads 5-1. Can he keep the momentum going? Back to neutral and Bassett slips into machine gun mindset. Bassett's next attack has him in deep. He finishes to cut the lead to 5-3. Woods needs some extra time getting up. Off the whistle it's another Bassett shot and a Bassett go behind and it's 5-5, just like that. Real leads on criteria still, 5-5, but Bassett is gaining steam. Woods now needs injury time. Looks like a knee. Woods will get some recovery time but then again, so will Bassett. 1:25 on the clock. Woods is back on his feet. He's got the lead but has to finish the match. Bassett on the attack right off the whistle. Snap down go behind and Bassett takes the lead for the first time in the match. Woods stops Baassett's next attack, and the one after that, but he'll need some offense of his own. Bassett's offense is smothering, his next shot slams Woods to the mat and Bo collects two more to make it 9-5. Bassett is 20 seconds away from a senior world team. Woods doesn't have much left. Time is up. Bo Bassett's time is now!

It's a 9-5 final and Bassett clinches his first senior world team with a Dolly Parton score! Bo Bassett is going to Kazakhstan!

1st period: We're about to get our second round started with Kylie Welker, a 2025 World Championship bronze medalist and Dymond Guilford, the 2026 US Open champ. But first, Kennedy Blades officially accepts her spot on the senior team at 68kg. Now we get the whistle. Guilford shoots early but doesn't commit and they scramble into handfighting. Another shot by Guilford. She's low and locked on a leg but a sprawl by Welker has them wrestling back to neutral. Guilford picks up her second passivity and goes on the clock in this scoreless bout. Acitivity clock expires and Welker secures the first point. More hand fighting but not much else and Welker picks up her first passivity warning toward the end of the period. We'll go to the break with Welker holding on the slimmest of leads after 3 minutes. 

2nd period: The pressure is on Guilford now as Welker is one period of way from getting back on the World Team. If Guilford can hold center for the first 30 seconds, though, she'll put Welker on the clock. And that's what happens. Welker drives Guilford to the boundry but her underhook can't force Dymond past the outer circle. One point for Guilford as she gains her first lead of the series, albeit on criteria. Past the halfway mark and Welker gets put on the clock again. The pace picks up but no Welker doesn't threaten Guilford. Now Guilford drives Welker to the boundary and she'll force a step out to take the lead out right just before the activity clock runs out. A few seconds after the restart and it's a 3-1 lead for Guilford. Welker drives forward, pressuring Guilford. Dymond backs away and gets dinged for negative wrestling. She'll concede a point but still leads 3-2 with under 10 to go. Guilford's defense holds up and she'll take match 2. This one is going to round 3!

1st period: The 2025 World bronze medalist Real Woods takes the mat to face Virginia Tech freshman phenom Bo Bassett. These two waste no time. Woods They get tangled up early, Woods nearly has a go behind before whipping Bassett over for two, but Bassett recovers and immediately pancakes Woods for two of his own. They go back to the center and the crowd is energized! Woods looking upper body but Bassett gets low and drives Woods out of bounds for one more. Heavy hand fighting for the rest of the period. Bo leads 3-2 at the break.

2nd period: More heavy hands for the first thirty. Bassett drops to a leg, climbs up, gets Woods' back and thunders him to the mat for a 5-2 lead. 2 minutes remain in the match. Bassett continues to wear on Woods. Snap down and Bassett spins behind for two more. It's 7-2 with 90 seconds remaining. Bassett applies more pressure. He's back on a leg and takes Woods out to extend his lead to 8-2. One minute remaining. Bassett attacks but Woods blocks and gets a go behind of his own to cut the lead to 8-4. 39 seconds on the clock on the restart. Bassett does not force an engagement as the clock ticks down. Woods perplexingly stays at a distance until the final seconds, when Bo shoots in and time runs out. Bassett will take match 1 with a convincing, high-paced 8-4 win. 

1st period: Kylie Welker strikes first shortly after the first whistle with a quick takedown. She works a leg lace in par terre but Guilford defends. It's 2-0 after 30 seconds. Guilford takes a half shot and is then hit with a caution for passivity. Guilford is put on the activity clock after a second passivity. One passivity point for Welker, who then snatches a single leg and drives Guilford out of bounds for another point in short time. The period ends 4-0 for Welker.

2nd period: Collar ties for the most of the first 30 seconds. Guildford changes levels and drives in. Back to collar ties. At the midway point of the period Guildford gets aggressive and a flurry ensues but it's stalemated. One minute to go, still 4-0 Welker. Guilford picks up the pace, drives Welker to the boundary. Welker tries to counter but she gives up the step out. 4-1 in short time. The buzzer sounds and Welker takes match one by a 3 point margin.
