"I think cheating is a big deal. I don't think you should cheat," Pyles said. "And I think Iowa State can get plenty of good wrestlers without having to do that."

Rader took a different perspective, arguing the penalties were warranted because a violation occurred but questioning whether the incident should be viewed as a major ethical controversy.

"I think the punishment is appropriate," Rader said. "I don't think it's a huge moral issue here."

Rader noted that recruiting and relationship-building have become common throughout college athletics, which has complicated how many fans view transfer-related violations.

"I don't think it's like, you know, get your pitchforks ready to go after the Iowa State staff because they did something terrible and this is bad for wrestling," Rader said.

The discussion also touched on how the transfer portal has changed recruiting across college sports and whether NCAA rules are keeping pace with the current landscape. While the hosts debated the severity of the infraction, they agreed that the case serves as another example of the challenges programs face navigating an increasingly active transfer market.

Who's Number One Card Generates Excitement
