The U20 World Championships are trundling along in beautiful Bratislava, Slovakia (aka the Big Brat). Team USA is competing against the rest of the world with a full lineup in all three styles: Greco-Roman and men's and women's freestyle.
Team points are tallied by adding up placement points earned by individuals in each weight class, using the following rubric.
Gold - 25
Silver - 20
Bronze 15
5th - 10
7th - 8
8th - 6
9th - 4
10th - 2
Because of the double bronze system used in UWW competitions, there are also two fifth-place finishes and no fourth or sixth placers.
Team USA's results can be found here.
Here's how all the team races shook out.
Men's Freestyle
28 federations scored team points in men's freestyle in Bratislava, though just 12 countries put wrestlers on the podium. Team USA had one of their best performances at a World Championship at any age level or style, earning medals at all ten weight classes.
Russia came the closest to the Americans, but were still 50 points behind the world champs. Japan, Iran and Kazakhstan rounded out the top five.
Individual points at each weight for the top four teams can be found below.
Women's Freestyle
The women's freestyle tournament was the second of the three styles conclude. Unsurprisingly, women's wrestling powerhouse, Japan, won the team title convincingly.
The United States placed fourth, an admirable finish behind two other traditional powers of women's wrestling, India and China. Russia was a close fifth, and then a large gap opens up between those five and sixth place Ukraine along with the rest of the field.
Team USA collected four medals: a gold from Everest Leydecker and three bronzes from Morgan Turner, Caley Graber, and Taina Fernandez.
Here are the top four teams' individual points at all ten weights.
Greco-Roman
30 different national federations earned team points at this year's edition of the 20 and under competition.
The red white and blue finished in 15th place, with one bronze medal and a 10th place finish. Traditional powers Russia and Iran claimed the top two spots, respectively.
