125lbs: #1 Epenesa Elison vs #2 Marlee Solomon
The marquee match of the WNO women’s card has all the drama. Although Solomon lives in Pennsylvania, she, like Elison, is from California. And both were on the 2026 U17 World Team.
Solomon won gold at 53 kg. Elison won gold at 57 kg.
Marlee (pronounced Mar-lay) showed her resolve with a gritty first-round win, then reeled off a fall and two techs.
Elison (pronounced EE-lison) trounced the 57 kg field with precise takedowns and elite-level turns.
This is also a rematch of the 2026 U20 World Team Trials semifinals at 55 kg, won by Solomon, 10-5.
This matchup is four pounds heavier than that, so we will see how Solomon adjusts to moving up in weight.
In addition to winning U17 World titles, both have had stellar seasons. Solomon won the prestigious Missouri Valley Open against a predominantly college field, then won the triple crown (Ironman, Beast of the East, Powerade) to cap off 2025. She has already committed to McKendree, so the Bearcats have another elite-level wrestler entering the program.
Solomon won a silver medal at the 2025 U17 World Championships and recently won the Girls High School Recruiting Showcase. She finished third at the U20 World Team Trials after losing to Elison, then knocked off 2026 NCAA finalist Riley Rayome 10-0 in the consolation finals.
Hold on tight. This will be a good one.
