College Wrestler Rankings This Week: Rocco Welsh Enters Top 10
Big Ten Championships results shake up FloWrestling’s pound-for-pound rankings as Penn State stars and Jesse Mendez build towards 2026 NCAA Championships.

The Big Ten Championships provided one final major data point before the 2026 NCAA Championships, as many of the nation’s top wrestlers faced elite competition in one of the toughest conference tournaments in the country.

Penn State once again dominated the tournament, winning the team title with 184 points and crowning six individual champions. Several of those performances also impacted the latest pound-for-pound rankings.
In the rankings, Mitchell Mesenbrink held steady at No. 1 after his dominant run to the 165 lbs title, while Shayne Van Ness moved up to No. 4 following his championship at 149 lbs.
Penn State teammates Josh Barr and Rocco Welsh also climbed the rankings after winning titles at 197 lbs and 184 lbs, respectively. Ohio State’s Jesse Mendez, who claimed the title at 141 lbs, remains firmly entrenched near the top of the list at No. 2.
