Brands Talks Postseason

If it’s not THE last state in the country to hold its annual high school wrestling championships, Ohio definitely is among the last.

Regardless, the Buckeye State will have the FloWrestling spotlight to itself March 13-15 when the 2026 Ohio High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Championships heads to the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The top athletes across three divisions for boys and one for girls will battle for this year’s coveted titles, and while the action won’t be broadcast live on FloWrestling or the FloSports app, each match will appear in the FloWrestling archives minutes after concluding.

The last few weeks for wrestlers in Ohio have been a whirlwind that began with sectional competition between Feb. 23 and Feb. 28 and will continue with district tournaments between March 2 and March 7.

That’ll give the top performers only a few days to regroup and make their way to Columbus with state titles in the line. Each weight class at the state event will include 16 participants.

All of the district tournaments will qualify four competitors per weight class for the state championships.

For boys wrestling in Ohio, there are three divisions – Division I, Division II and Division III. The girls compete in one classification, and their first state titles were awarded in 2020.

However, girls in Ohio have the option to compete with the girls and the boys during the regular season, but they must pick one route during the postseason.

As you settle in for the final event of the 2026 Ohio high school wrestling season, here's everything you need to know about the 2026 OHSAA State Wrestling Championships, including a link to the brackets:

Who Won At The 2025 OHSAA State Wrestling Championships?

Some history was made at the 2025 OHSAA State Wrestling Championships, with St. Edward winning Boys Division I for the program’s 10th consecutive team state title, and Bishop Watterson winning the Division II trophy for the school’s first win.

Another first-time winner was St. Paris Graham Local – except it wasn’t the team’s first win overall.

For more than two decades, Graham dominated Division II, but the 2025 title marked its first in Division III.

The 2025 title on the girls side went to Olentangy Orange for the second consecutive year.

  • Division I – St. Edward
  • Division II – Columbus Bishop Watterson
  • Division III – St. Paris Graham Local
  • Girls – Lewis Center Olentangy Orange

Did You Know: The High School Wrestling State Championships In Ohio Began In 1938

Girls wrestling joined the championship landscape in Ohio in 2020, featuring one classification and 14 weight classes. Casstown Miami East won the first team title.

In the years since, five girls have become four-time OHSAA state champions, with four more accomplishing the feat three time.

Boys wrestling in Ohio is closing in on a century of action. The first state championships was held in 1938, with John Hay High School from Cleveland winning the first four years and in five of the first six. John Hay never won again.

Competition originally was one classification, and a second was added in 1972. The third division came along in 1976.

Lakewood St. Edward owns the most team titles with 37, a legacy that began in 1978. The school last won in 2024. St. Paris Graham Local is second all-time with 25 team championships.
