Delaware’s individual wrestling state championships celebrates 70 years of history and tradition this season, and athletes across 14 weight classes will have the opportunity to add their names to the record book.

The 2026 Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Individual Wrestling State Championships will be held Feb. 27-28 at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware, and all of the action will be broadcast live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app.

Each weight class at the 2026 DIAA Individual Wrestling State Championships will feature a 16-person bracket consisting of the top four finishers from each of the recent qualifying tournaments – Blue Hen, Henlopen Conference and Independent Schools – along with four at-large selections.

Many of the competitors also are fresh off the 2026 DIAA Wrestling Dual Team State Championships, where champions were crowned Feb. 14 in two divisions (Division I, Division II).

In Division I, Salesianum School defeated Caesar Rodney High School in the title tilt, 59-9. Division II also was a bit lopsided, with Delaware Military Academy downing Laurel High School, 52-17.

But with the team competition in the past, it’s now every man for himself with individual championships on the line.

From 1957 until 1992, the state’s team champions were determined by points earned at the individual meet.

As you settle in for the final event of the 2026 Delaware championship season, here's everything you need to know about the 2026 DIAA Individual Wrestling State Championships, including a link to the brackets:

When Was The 2026 DIAA Wrestling Dual Team State Championships?

Since 1993, the DIAA Wrestling Dual Team State Championships has been the battleground for deciding the state’s team wrestling champions each season. The 2026 edition was held Feb. 14.

Team competition in high school wrestling in Delaware is broken into two categories – Division I and Division II – based on enrollment. Larger schools and smaller schools, respectively.

Within those divisions are smaller leagues, with the major ones being Blue Hen Flight A and Henlopen North in Division I and Blue Hen Flight B and Henlopen South in Division II.

At the end of the regular season, the programs with the best records in their respective divisions earn automatic entry into the DIAA Wrestling Dual Team State Championships.

The tournament field for the state event consists of eight-team brackets.

In Division I, it’s the Blue Hen Flight A champion, Henlopen North winner and six at-large selections made by the DIAA Boys Wrestling Committee from the pool of teams that fill out applications.

In Division II, the bracket includes the Blue Hen Flight B champion, Henlopen South winner and six at-large selections made by the committee.

Prior to 1993, points earned during the individual state meet decided that year’s team champion.

Did You Know: Girls Wrestling In Delaware Is Growing

While the boys in Delaware have been wrestling for state championships since 1957, girls wrestling still is classified as a Level 2 sport in Delaware, which means it is not yet a DIAA-sanctioned championship sport. In order to reach that status, the sports must be Level 3.

However, to help grow girls wrestling in Delaware and keep the expanding opportunities coming and organized, a Girls Wrestling Sport Committee has been established.
