2026 PIAA Team Wrestling State Championships Schedule & Brackets

Faith Christian Academy Chasing Fourth-Straight AA Team Title

#5 Faith Christian Academy has been a revelation in Pennsylvania over the last five years. Going from just starting a program in the 2014-15 season to being a mainstay in the top five national rankings and on the verge of winning their fourth PIAA Team Championship is something truly incredible.

Led by senior and three-time PIAA champion #2 Adam Waters, the Lions enter the weekend 17-1 and will meet Derry Area in the quarterfinals. Faith Christian Academy will be heavily favored to advance to the semifinals, however, we could see a matchup between either #2 Waters or #15 Jason Singer against #14 Brady Brown of Derry.

Saturday morning in the semifinals, FCA will likely meet #18 Bishop McDevitt if they get past District 10 champion Reynolds in their quarterfinal dual. That match could provide several interesting matchups depending on how the coaches decide to dictate their lineups, but there are nine nationally ranked wrestlers between these two teams, so you will definitely will want to tune in for this one!

FCA will be favored to come out on top of their semifinal showdown against Bishop McDevitt and will likely see #8 Bishop McCort in the PIAA AA Team State Wrestling Championship Dual. This has become the biggest rivalry in the state of Pennsylvania over the last few years, and this could be the third year in a row these two teams meet for the state championship!

Some main event matches to watch out for in this dual could be an Ironman final rematch between two-time PIAA champions #1 Bo Bassett and #6 Joe Bachmann as well as a rematch from last year's team championship between returning PIAA champions #2 Melvin Miller and #4 Nicholas Singer.

After losing the last two years to Faith and finishing state team runner-ups, Bishop McCort will not go down without a fight in this one. Expect Head Coach Bill Bassett and company to do whatever lineup shifts and pull out anything necessary, so expect there to be fireworks to settle the AA Team State Championship!

#1 Bo Bassett vs. #2 Brandt Harer

Another incredible storyline heading into the weekend is two-time undefeated PIAA champion and #1 Bo Bassett making the drop down to 145 pounds for the post season. This sets up a possible matchup with fellow two-time PIAA champion and #2 nationally ranked Brandt Harer of Montgomery in the quarterfinals of the AA state tournament Friday evening.

Both of these wrestlers are in pursuit of PIAA history as Bassett is 155-0 in his career and is looking to become just the fifth ever PIAA wrestler to complete their career undefeated; joining four-time PIAA champions Jerry Maurey (67-0), Mike Johnson (84-0), Cary Kolat (137-0), and Chance Marsteller (166-0). While Bassett is looking to continue his unbeaten streak, Harer himself has won 154 straight matches ever since falling the in the 2023 PIAA finals as a freshman. Harer is chasing the PIAA total wins record that was set just last year by three-time PIAA champion and current Virginia Tech 133-pounder Aaron Seidel. Seidel finished off an incredible high school campaign last year with a career record of 206-4, to set the PIAA wins record. Harer became just the second-ever PIAA wrestler to reach 200 wins on Tuesday night in the PIAA opening round dual against Honesdale with a 21-3 technical fall in just 43 seconds. Harer is now 200-2 in his career and will be looking to surpass Seidel's 206 wins as well as win his third PIAA crown this March.

If these two incredible wrestlers were to hit this weekend, it is a very interesting style-clash. Bassett is known for his world class handfight and footwork as well as his unrelenting pace. Harer is nearly impossible to takedown as he uses his length and hips to dominate scrambles, and turns nearly everyone he wrestles with his tilts. Everyone knows Bassett's path to victory: dominate the hand fight, wear on the opponent, and keep the foot on the gas pedal. For Harer, the path to victory is: use Bassett's pressure against him with the slideby, slow the match down and create scrambles, ride from the top position and look for turns. In case we get this matchup, make sure to tune in at 5 pm ET on Friday evening, as you won't want to miss this one between two of the best in PIAA history!

Bethlehem Catholic Searching For Fifth-Straight AAA And 12th Overall Team Title

Bethlehem Catholic has become a wrestling dynasty over the last 15 years in Pennsylvania. They began their incredible run back in 2011 with their first PIAA AA Team Championship and racked off four-straight from 2011-2014. Following their 2014 Team Championship, Bethlehem Catholic made the transition to the AAA class where they finished third in 2015 and won another team title in 2016. They then went on a run of two-straight in 2018 and 2019, before winning the last four AAA PIAA Team State Championships. Both the seven AAA titles and the 11 overall titles are PIAA records.

BECA will look to continue their stranglehold over the PIAA AAA Class this weekend, but this time they will be the underdogs. After defeating Nazareth in the 2022, 2023, and 2025 PIAA AAA Team State Championship finals, the Blue Eagles defeated the Golden Hawks last weekend, 36-26, in the District 11 AAA Duals Finals. Nazareth has certainly been the top AAA school all season and enters the PIAA tournament 17-1, with their only loss coming back on January 10th to Grassfield, a Virginia high school at the Virginia Duals.

If Bethlethem Catholic, led by three-time PIAA champion and #6 Keanu Dillard, want to get back to the top of the AAA team podium, they will likely have to go through District 7 champion and undefeated Franklin Regional in the semifinals. If they get past the Panthers in the semifinals, they will likely have to defeat Nazareth for the fourth time in the last five years for the PIAA AAA Team State Championship crown. Can Bethlehem Catholic do it again? Tune in this weekend to find out!
