Two months after announcing Kevin Jack as the head coach of the newly formed wrestling program at IMG Academy and Jarion Beets as Wrestling Student Athlete Advisor, Director of Wrestling Dr. Enock Francois is announcing Scottie Boykin and Scott Joll as assistant coaches for the Ascenders. Both Boykin and Joll will bring NCAA Division 1 coaching experience to the IMG Acaademy campus. 

Scottie Boykin comes to Bradenton from Cornell where he has been an assistant since the 2024-25 season. Before that, he was a volunteer assistant at the U.S. Air Force Academy for two seasons, working closely with heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson who was a two-time Big 12 champ and an All-American during Boykin's tenure. From 2019 to 2022, Boykin coached at Cornell's Spartan Regional Training Center, and during the 2018-19 season, he was a volunteer assistant at UT Chattanooga.

As an athlete, Boykin was a three-time NCAA qualifier and a two-time SoCon champ. He also competed on the senior level where he twice earned All-American honors at the US Open and was a 2x World Team Trials qualifier in freestyle.

Scott Joll brings two years of college coaching with him to IMG Academy. He started at Division II UNC Pembroke during the 2024-25 season and currently coaches at Division I Davidson.

Joll wrestled at West Virginia for four seasons before transferring to UNC Pembroke where he was the most dominant wrestler in Division II winning the Gregorian Award at the NCAA DII Championships along with the Schalles Award. He was the first non Division I wrestler to win the award since 2005.
