Now that I've turned on BTN and seen the Big Ten Conference map commercial, I'm ready to start live blogging!

The great Shane Sparks and Jim Gibbons on the mic for the call. Startling lineup suggests were going to have 9 ranked matchups and 7 top ten matchups.

125: #1 Luke Lilledahl, Penn State vs Alan Koehler, Nebraska

1st period: It's Koehler for Nebraska (pronounced KAY-lor). Lilledahl in on a shot off the whistle, he's fighting through a whizzer and he scores in under 30 seconds. We're in the Bryce Jordan Center so we've got the raised stage and rotating spotlight logos in the corners of the mat. Plus a big cat growl sound effect after the takedown. Quick escape. Koehler stops a go behind after a snap down and we get a stalemate. 3-1 Lilledahl. Soon after is another single leg and quick finish, 6-1. Escape for Koehler but a quick ankle pick and it's 9-2 now in short time of the first. RT already over a minute. We'll go to the second after no change in position.

2nd period: Koehler gets a free escape to start the second. Lilledahl right back in on an attack. Hard finish and Lilledahl has a 12-3 lead. Luke working on the right leg, trying to turn with a bow and arrow. Lilledahl flips Koehler but then Koehler gets off his back and might have a reversal. Lilledahl gets to his feet, never technically relinquishes control and gets back on top eventually. 14-3 as the period expires and Lilledahl has riding time locked up.

3rd period: Koehler goes nuetral, and Lilledahl has a takedown in the first 15 seconds of the period. Quick release but Koehler is recaught and it's a 20-4 tech-fall to start the dual for the Nittany Lions!

Luke Lilledahl, Penn State tech-falls Alan Koehler, Nebraska, 20-4

Penn State 5, Nebraska 0

133: #6 Marcus Blaze, Penn State vs #10 Jacob Van Dee, Nebraska

1st period: Van Dee from Pennsylvania and Blaze from Ohio. Solid stance as always for Blaze. Van Dee with a few fakes. Not much action half way through the period. Front head lock for Blaze but Van Dee wrestles out of it. Blaze attacks with about 45 seconds left but Van Dee defends. Another attack from Blaze and the fireman's carry nets Blaze three points. Quick rideout and the period ends.

2nd period: Van Dee goes underneath. He's out with little difficulty. Still 3-1 halfway through the period. Riding time is art 25 seconds for Blaze. And Van Dee gets dinged for hands to the face. I believe we heard the referee say on the broadcast that he was already warned so that's an extra point for Blaze. Period ends in neutral, 4-1 in Blaze's favorite.

3rd period: Blaze takes bottom. His first and second stand attempts are thwarted but he's free on the third. 5-1, riding time down to just 3 seconds. Van Dee needs more than a takedown, though. Blaze keeping like Gibraltar in the center of the mat. Van Dee needs to score but he can't find an opening. Blaze drops on a leg in short time and the match ends while they're still in a scramble. Regular decision for Blaze!

Marcus Blaze, Penn State decisions Jacob Van Dee, Nebraska, 5-1

Penn State 8, Nebraska 0

141: #13 Braeden Davis, Penn State vs #3 Brock Hardy, Nebraska

1st period: Can Hardy stop the bleeding? It's one of the few bouts where the Huskers will be favored. Davis coming right after Hardy off the whistle. Might have Hardy in trouble! Hardy bellies out and Davis gets the first takedown. Big mat return sets the crowd off. 3-0 after an out of bounds restart and just 30 seconds of wrestling. Another mat return but then Hardy is up and out. Davis with a good head fake and he's back on a leg. Extended scramble and Davis has his second takedown. Hardy gets mat returned again but then stands and escapes. 6-2 with a little less than a minute left in the period. The crowd is loving the action, and of course they do, they're wrestling fans! Period ends same score, 1:09 of RT for Davis.

2nd period: Davis takes bottom and Hardy quickly breaks him down flat. Davis builds up, sits and escapes, 7-2, 1:30 left in the period. Hardy gets hit with stalling. Both wrestlers working hard on their setups right now. Hardy changes levels, he's in deep, he's got a body lock but Davis has nearly recovered. Hardy keeps driving and they go out of bounds, inducing a stall call on Davis. They've each got a warning now. Blood time for Davis. On the restart, knee pick for Hardy, Davis counters, nearly comes around, more scrambling. Then Hardy gets a badly needed takedown and ride out to make it 7-5 going into the third.

3rd period. Quick escape for Hardy makes it 7-6. A little more than a minute to go. Riding time not a factor. Shot by Davis, he's got a leg but he's extended. Hardy sits the corner, he locks up a cradle, and Davis is on his back. It'll be big points for Hardy, and a pin! Huge fall for Brother Brock! Some extra ciriculars after the pin. Hardy taps Davis' belly, Davis takes exception and steps to Hardy but it's all diffused. In any event, Huskers get on the board in a big way!

And it turns out Penn State lost a team point due to Davis' reaction. He did kind of kick Hardy a little so yeah, don't kick even if you get some unwanted belly pats I guess.

Brock Hardy, Nebraska pins Braeden Davis, Penn State

Penn State 7, Nebraska 6

149: #1 Shayne Van Ness, Penn State vs #13 Chance Lamer, Nebraska

1st period: Lamer gets the first takedown, but that can be dangerous on a wrestler like Van Ness, who loves a good comeback. Quick escape makes it 3-1. Blood time with 1:47 left in the first. Van Ness always attacking but Lamer's counters could make that strategy tricky. Van Ness keeps the pressure on for the final minute of the period but no scores, no stall calls. 3-1 Lamer leads.

2nd period: Lamer takes bottom, sits, turns and is out to make it 4-1. Van Ness clears the head and hands and he's in deep. Powerful mat return and it's tied 4-4. Van Ness has the bottom leg in a shallow turk and he's looking for nearfall but Lamer bellies out. Van Ness keeps Lamer flat long enough to induce the stall call on Lamer, his first. Deep tight waist keeps Lamer from doing much and the ride out keeps it 4-4 at the break.

3rd period: Van Ness chooses bottom. Lamer runs riding time down to 46 seconds before Van Ness escapes. Shayne leads 5-4. Van Ness moving Lamer around the mat, and then pounces on a well timed double leg. he drives Lamer to the mat and it's 8-4. RT over a minute with less than 60 seconds to go. Escape for Lamer and now Chance in on a shot, defended by Van Ness. Beautiful level change and fast finish gives Van Ness another takedown to make it 11-5 in short time. Rideout and the RT point but it's still a 12-5 regular decision, though also another ranked win for SVN!

Shayne Van Ness, Penn State decisions Chance Lamer, Nebraska, 12-5

Penn State 10, Nebraska 6

157: #2 PJ Duke, Penn State vs #5 Antrell Taylor, Nebraska

1st period: The marquee matchup of the evening! The true frosh phenom vs the reigning national champion! Each wrestler trades attacks, fierce handfighting right off the bat. Nice flurry as Taylor shoots, Duke drags for the go behind but Taylor pivots and defends and they're back to neutral. Duke in deep, he's got Taylor on one foot. Front trip nearly has the takedown but somehow Taylor defends. They continue the world class scramble until the go out of bounds. Taylor hit with a stall call. And then the challenge brick comes out from the PSU corner, which Manning thought came too late and he's on the mat arguing his case. The crowd responds to Manning's demonstrative arguing with a shower of boos. We'll see if the refs saw a takedown from Duke when they get another look.. The call is confirmed, eliciting another boo shower from the crowd. The period ends 0-0.

2nd period: Taylor chooses bottom and is up with little difficulty to score the first point of the bout. A more cautious second period as both wrestlers look for an advantage from neutral. Taylor warned for hands to the face. A smattering of boos from the crowd wanting another stall call but Taylor is circling enough to ward off a call. Second period ends still 1-0.

3rd period. Duke's turn underneath. He stands and is returned twice to the mat. After a restart Duke stands again and is right out, breaking the goose egg on his side of the ledger and it's a tie ball game. Taylor has the only stall call, otherwise it's knotted up. Duke taking more ground but Taylor is making short attacks and circling. The crowd wanted a stall call as the final seconds of regulation tick away but the refs will let both wrestlers have a chance to settle things in sudden victory.

Sudden victory: Two minutes, first to score wins! Duke staying aggressive, Taylor playing with fire while giving ground in his defense. An underhooks for Taylor allows him to take some territory from Duke. Neither wrestler changing levels or putting a knee on the mat and then a whistle from the refs to admonish both wrestlers for action. Again the crowd wants a stall on Taylor but instead it's tiebreaker time.

Tiebreaker 1a: Taylor goes underneath with 30 seconds on the board. Caution on Taylor, then caution on Duke. Then a legal start and Taylor stands quick but Duke has a tight grip. Mat return, then a scramble off Taylor's roll, Duke looking for back points, instead Taylor rolls free and looks for a reversal. No nearfall and the escape awarded as they go out of bounds. Riding time for Duke at 13 seconds. No scores from neutral.

Tiebreaker 1b: Duke underneath. He needs to escape in 12 seconds. Caution on Duke, his final warning. Clean start, Duke up. He faces Taylor and they've got dueling body locks. Big mat return for Taylor. Duke right back up. Another mat return, huge for Taylor. A restart, riding time now in Taylor's favor. No escape for Duke and Antrell Taylor will hand Duke the first loss of his collegiate career!

Antrell Taylor, Nebraska decisions PJ Duke, 2-1 TB

Penn State 10, Nebraska 9

165: #1 Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State vs #7 LJ Araujo, Nebraska

1st period: We got the half time break before we return to action in State College. Mesenbrink looks to right the ship for the Lions and he's off to a good start, scoring a takedown in about 15 seconds on Araujo. Mesenbrink back in on a shot and he collects the second leg for another takedown, 6-1 in less than a minute. Escape for Araujo, and catch and release in effect at shortly thereafter it's 9-3 and we're back in neutral. Araujo hit for stalling. Then LJ gets in on one of Mitchell's legs in shortime and the period ends in the scramble.

2nd period: We'll start in neutral and Araujo stays on the offensive, shooting Mesenbrink out of bounds and inducing the rare stall call on Mitchell. Mesenbrink responds with a takedown to make it 12-3. Quick escape and it's 12-4, riding time at a buck thirty. Action slows down a bit and the period ends in the same score.

3rd period: Mesenbrink goes underneath. Mesenbrink up to his feat and Araujo stays on top and off the mat like a backpack. Since he doesn't bring Mesenbrink back down he'll get hit with stalling and give up a point, 13-4. Similar situation on the restart but this time Mesenrbrink hips heists on his way to the mat and gets a reversal, 16-4. Escape for Araujo but quick double leg for Mesenbrink and it's 19-5. A rideout would give Mitchell the tech. And that's indeed what it will be!

Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State techs LJ Araujo, Nebraska, 20-5

Penn State 15, Nebraska 9

174: #1 Levi Haines, Penn State vs #4 Christopher Minto, Nebraska

1st period: Another superb, top 5 matchup! Haines is a fairly strong favorite here. A cautious first half of the period, not a lot of action. Haines with a shot and he drives Minto right ofhttps://x.com/pennstf the stage. Well one of his legs anyway, which ends up on the scorer's table. Minto gets hit with stalling but the Nebraska bench want the refs to take another look to see if Haines give Minto an extra shove after the whistle. The referees conclude that Haines, did, in fact, commit unnecessary roughness and he concedes the first point to Minto. That looked like the right call on the replay but it also wasn't terribly egregious, just a little too much aggression from Levi. Getting toward the end of the period and Haines is in on another shot. Minto locks around the body over the top and does just enough to avoid giving up a neutral danger takedown as the period expires.

2nd period: Haines on bottom, he's out quickly. Firece handfighting, now a throw by for Minto and that's a takedown for Minto. He leads 4-1 and is perhaps smelling an upset. Haines escapes and answer with a double leg and he finishes just before the buzzer to make it 5-4. The upset odds just got a lot taller in a very short amount of time.

3rd period: Minto starts the final stanza of regulation on bottom. He's out quickly to tie it up, 5-5, riding time not a factor. Level change by Minto and Haines looks for a short offense score, where he is so dangerous. Repeat this situation and a knee pick from Haines collapses Minto and it's an 8-5 lead, much to the delight of the Nittany Lion partisans in the arena. Haines looking for a bow and arrow but can't get the turn. Minto escapes to give himself an opportunity to steal the win but Haines shuts the door on the upset possibility and wins 8-6.

Levi Haines, Penn State decisions Christopher Minto, Nebraska, 8-6

Penn State 18, Nebraska 9

184: #1 Rocco Welsh, Penn State vs #6 Silas Allred, Nebraska

1st period: Handfighting for the first 45 seconds or so and then a ferocious ankle pick from Welsh and draws first blood, 3-0. Escape for Allred but Welsh right back in on a single leg. He gets Allred hopping and then finishes on the edge of the mat, just barely. 6-1. Welsh from western PA, wrestled one varsity season with the Buckeyes before transferring to his home state. Allred originally from Indiana. Escape for Allred and it's 6-2 late in the first. No more scores in the period.

2nd period: Allred elects to go underneath. An escape, but then another takedown from Welsh, makes it 9-3. Allred fights to his feet as Welsh stalks him for a short time takedown. They finish the period in neutral.

3rd period: Welsh takes a turn on bottom. He's out quickly, 9-4. Allred warned for stalling as Welch goes in on a double. Allred body locks and backwards somersaults but Welsh winds up on top for 3 more and a 13-4 lead. Riding time up to 1:22 when Allred escapes with under a minute left. Shot from Allred, Welsh counters but no scores after a nifty flurry. Welsh will tack on another for the riding time to make a major decision!

Rocco Welsh, Penn State majors Silas Allred, Nebraska, 14-5

Penn State 22, Nebraska 9

197: #1 Josh Barr, Penn State vs #10 Camden McDanel, Nebraska

1st period: Michigan native Josh Barr is a relentless attacker and he's in on a single that he finishes in about 40 seconds. McDanel fights to his feet but he's brought back down. Another mat return goes out of bounds and we get a restart a minute into the match. McDanel finally escapes but Barr is right back in on an attack, as is his custom. Barr finishes to make it 6-1, riding time already over a minute with a minute left in the period. Escape McDanel, 6-2. Short throw by (not sure that's the right term for that set up) and Barr is back in on McDanel's legs. Barr finishes before they go out of bounds and it's short time. But that doesn't mean Barr won't try for one more takedown. And he's got it to make it 12-3 as McDanel finally makes it to the second period.

2nd period: Barr gets to try out bottom and he's out in about 10 seconds, 13-3 Barr. Barr on the attack (nothing new there) and draws a stall call on McDanel, his first warning. Barr right back in on a leg and it's 16-3. Looks like Barr was setting up an assassin before McDanel escaped, 16-4. One more takedown will be the tech. McDanel in on a shot, he's holding on but Barr is improving his position. McDanel tenaciously holds onto a leg and we get a stalemate. McDanel gets to the third, still 16-4.

3rd period: McDanel back on bottom. He stands and is out with little difficulty. McDanel shoots in, Barr counters, has a leg on the boundary. Barr pulling McDanel back in, lounges for the second leg and he'll get the takedown. Barr cuts McDanel, trips him on his way up and perhaps that motivated McDanel to respond with a nice hi-c and low finish for a takedown of his own. It's 19-9, quite a few points for light heavyweights! Barr finally escapes to make it 20-9, riding time at 1:04 with about 20 seconds left int he period. Barr clearly wants the tech-fall but McDanel is not going to let him have it, even with the RT point. "Just" a major decision for Barr!

Josh Barr, Penn State majors Camden McDanel, Nebraska, 21-9

Penn State 26, Nebraska 9

285: #4 AJ Ferrari or Cade Ziola, Nebraska vs #9 Cole Mirasola, Penn State

1st period: Our final bout of the evening, and a good chance for Nebraska to grab another win from the Lions. And right away we get some interesting handfighting techniques from both wrestlers. Might this one get chippy? Ferrari drops to a leg but Mirasola defends. That was the only shot by the halfway mark of the period but Mirasola has been consistently backing Ferrari up. Action picks up toward the back half of the period but Mirasola again fends off a Ferrari shot to keep the bagels on the scoreboard after 3 minutes.

2nd period: Ferrari underneath, he's out in 8 seconds to score first, 1-0. About 50 seconds it's Mirasola in on a single leg. Ferrari shin whizzers and Mirasola comes up with an ankle band but no points. Back to neutral, now in short time. No more scores and Ferrari takes the slimmest of leads to the third.

3rd period: Mirasola on bottom, a crucial opportunity for Ferrari on top. Pressure from Ferrari and he's halfway to a minute of riding time. They go out of bounds and Ferrari loses grip for a moment but Mirasola doesn't escape and it's a restart with 1:08 on the match clock and 44 seconds on the RT clock in AJ's favor. Mirasola gets up to his feet but Ferrari stays on him and they go out of bounds, RT now at 59 seconds. Caution on Ferrari on the next whistle. Clean start on the next whistle and almost immediately, Ferrari has over 60 seconds of riding time. Still on top after going out of bounds with just 23 seconds left in the bout and AJ has the point secured. Time running out on Mmirasola. He's out with 10 seconds to go. Crowd gets behind Mirasola but time runs out. AJ Ferrari earns three more for the Huskers and celebrates by doing the splits!

AJ Ferrari, Nebraska decisions Cole Mirasola, Penn State, 2-1

Penn State 26, Nebraska 12

Penn State extends their record setting NCAA dual meet win streak to 83, a nigh unfathomable number.

Admirable performances from both programs. Several results will have major implications when Big Ten Championships seeding needs to be done.

Very appreciative of everyone who followed the action on this live blog. Apologies for the typos and see you next time!
