HAWKEYES | Episode 1

The University of Iowa is the first Power Four school to start a women's wrestling program. The Hawkeyes hired 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Clarissa Chun as its first coach on November 18, 2021.

The National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships were established in 2020 for all NCAA divisions to compete. Each team could send a maximum of 15 wrestlers to the postseason, but only 10 could score points.

The NCAA established women's freestyle wrestling as a championship sport for the 2025-26 season. A maximum of 10 wrestlers (one per weight) can qualify for the NCAA Championships.
