The gates at the 2026 TSSAA Dual Wrestling State Championships will open with the sun, and the teams won’t waste any time getting down to business.
The action – boys and girls – will get underway at 10 a.m. Eastern/9 a.m. Central and feature competition across two divisions and four classifications, plus a girls division – Division I Class A, Division I Class AA, Division II Class A-AA and Division II Class AAA.
While the 2025 edition of the event was entertaining and rewarding for many, only one of the final matches ended up being a nailbiter.
The state titles were won by Soddy Daisy (Division I A), Cleveland (Division I AA), Baylor School (Division II AAA), Lakeway Christian (Division A-AA) and Cleveland (Girls). The squeaker of the year was Soddy Daisy, defeating Signal Mountain 39-37.
For Baylor, the 2025 victory was the team’s record-tying 14th title overall, but first since going back-to-back in 2021 and 2022.
Lakeway Christian won for the second consecutive time, and the third time overall.
The Cleveland boys also found the top of the podium for the 14th time since the inaugural event in 1988, and the squad’s 2025 title was its eighth in a row. The last time Cleveland didn’t have an undefeated season was 2020.
Soddy Daisy was able to repeat in 2025, too, with four more titles coming in 2012, 2007, 2002 and 1989.
On the girls side, the first title in dual wrestling was awarded in 2022. Rossview won the first year, but Cleveland has claimed the three trophies since.
The familiar Agricultural Exposition Arena has a flexible layout that allows the venue to host a variety of activities, including trade shows, agricultural events and everything in between, totaling more than 45 events (local, regional and national) per year.
