Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State Wrestling Match Notes

No. 18 Oklahoma (7-1) travels to Stillwater to face #5 Oklahoma State (8-1) for the 190th installment of the Bedlam series. The Cowboys lead the series 152-27-10, and are seeking their 21st consecutive win against the Sooners.

165: Kody Routledge (Oklahoma State) major decision Peyten Kellar (Oklahoma), 11-3 
First period: Routledge hits a shot halfway through the period, Kellar counters out and gets a stalemate with 53 seconds left. No score.

Second period: Routledge picks bottom and escapes in four seconds, followed by a low single to the right side, tree tops it, and scores with 1:30 left for a 4-0 lead. Optional start and Kellar escapes in 1:11. Kellar adds another takedown with 53 seconds left for a 7-1 lead.

Third period: Kellar starts on bottom and escapes after an optional start in three seconds. Routledge takes advantage of a poor shot by Kellar for a 10-3 lead after an intentional release. Shot by Keller countered by Routledge with 30 seconds left, but ended in a stalemate with 11 seconds left. Routledge wins 11-3 with riding time.

174: Alex Facundo (Oklahoma State) decision Carter Schubert (Oklahoma), 7-2 
First period: Schubert hits a straight single, props it up in the middle of the mat, has it in the air for over 90 seconds, Schubert cracks him to the mat, Facundo stretches out with 50 seconds left, and Facundo finally scores on a counter from the initial exchange with 18 seconds left. Facundo leads 3-0.

Second period: Facundo starts down and escapes with 1:39 left for a 4-0 lead. Facundo hits a sweep single with 34 seconds left, but the action spills out of bounds with no score. Favundo leads 4-0.

Third period: Schubert starts down and gets a caution for a false start. Schubert escapes with 1:48 left. Single-leg shot by Facundo, hooks in the leg, and scores with 46 seconds left for a 7-1 lead. Automatic escape by Facundo, duck under to a single for Facundo, but doesn't score. Facundo wins 7-2.

Oklahoma 0, Oklahoma State 7

184: Zack Ryder (Oklahoma State) dec. Brian Soldano (Oklahoma), 10-5 
First period: Ryder hits a shot with 2:41 left, followed by a potentially dangerous call with 2:24 left. Single leg by Ryder with 2:15 left and finally scores with 1:38 left for a 3-0 lead. Soldano escapes with 1:12 left, cutting the lead to 3-1. Reattack by Ryder, who switches to a double and back points for a 9-1 lead. 

Second period: Soldano starts on bottom and escapes in four seconds, but another reattack by Ryder is stalemated out of bounds. Stalling on Soldano with 36 seconds left. 

Third period: Ryder starts on bottom, and Soldano is committed to the ride and is still on top with a minute left. Taylor throws the challenge brick for locked hands with five seconds left. Ryder gets a point for locked hands, giving him a 10-2 lead with 18 seconds left. Soldano gets three back points as time expires, giving Ryder a 10-5 win.

First period: No scoring halfway through the period. Throw by to a single by Parker with 15 seconds left, but the action goes out of bounds with two seconds left. No scoring.

Second period: Merrill chooses down, tripods up, and escapes in 15 seconds for a 1-0 lead. 

Third period: Parker picks neutral. Stall call on Merrill with 25 seconds left. Merrill hits a double out of bounds with 10 seconds left, but no score. Merrill holds on for a 1-0 win.
