We've got you covered with live updates as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights wrestle the Nittany Lions at Penn State!

The Nittany Lions set an NCAA D1 record their last time on the mat, when they won their 77th dual meet in a row. They'll look to extend the record when they host Rutgers, who won the 61st Midlands Championships just over a week ago.

285: #14 Cole Mirasola, Penn State vs #21 Hunter Catka, Rutgers

125: #2 Luke Lilledahl decisions #33 Ayden Smith, Rutgers, 8-3

1st period: Starting off 125 with a ranked matchup! Smith is a redshirt freshman, Lilledahl is a true sophomore. Lilledahl took 3rd at NCAAs last year. He also has a U17, U20 and U23 world gold medal. Not bad! Single leg shot after a minute and Lightning Luke converts to make it 3-0! Smith escapes 30 seconds later. Lilledahl staying aggressive, shoots enough on Smith to draw a stall call on the Scarlet Knight. Smith trying to circle in, he counters a shot from Lilledahl as they go out of bounds, no stall but it looked close. Lilledahl in on another shot as the period ends, 3-1 in his favor.

2nd period: Lilledahl starts the period underneath. Luke frees himself in about 20 seconds to make it 4-1. Lilledahl's defense is keeping Smith at bay. Smith backs up and gets dinged again for stalling, Lilledahl picks up another point. It's 5-0 at the end of the second.

3rd period: Smith's turn to choose, he'll take bottom. Lilledahl tight waists Ayden for about 30 seconds before Smith escapes. Smith is within 3 points as it's 5-2 but he's yet to threaten. Now a shot from Smith but Lilledahl defends. Less than a minute to go. Low level double for Lilledahl gives him 3 more with less than 20 to go. It's 8-2, Luke has time to pickup riding time but Lilledahl goes optional start to try an get the major. Smith shoots off the whistle and they're still scrambling as time expires. Regular decision for Lilledahl, as he wins 8-3.

Penn State 3, Rutgers 0

133: #6 Marcus Blaze majors #24 Dylan Shawver, Rutgers, 12-2

1st period: All-American for Rutgers and a true freshman for Penn State, though Blaze isn't your average ordinary true frosh and Shawver is having trouble finding AA form in his senior campaign. Half way through the period and we've seen some text book stance and positioning but not a lot of action. Both wrestlers are from Ohio by the way. Blaze changes level and has a body lock on Shawver but can't do anything with the bear hug and they're back to neutral. 0-0 after three minutes of wrestling, Shawver picked up a stall call as they went out of bounds with 1 second left in the period.

2nd period: Shawver takes bottom to start the 2nd period. After about 45 seconds Shawver sits out and elevates Blaze and escapes to make it 1-0. Front head lock for Blaze and he's looking for a go behind. Shawver with some nifty defense but the extra effort gives Blaze the takedown with an ankle pick. It's 3-1. Blaze rides out the period and has about 1:25 of RT.

3rd period: Blaze chooses neutral for the final period of regulation. Blaze hits an ankle pick as Shawver simultaneously gets hit for stalling for the second time. The takedown and stall point make it 8-1. Blaze cuts Shawver on the restart and it's 8-2. Shawver in on a single leg with a minute left in the period. Blaze uses a shin whizzer and they're back to neutral. 30 seconds remaining. Lefty hi-c for Blaze, he converts with just 15 seconds to go. The Nittany Lion will ride out the remaining seconds to make it 12-2 with the riding time point. Major for Blaze!

Penn State 7, Rutgers 0

141: Braeden Davis majors Tahir Parkins, Rutgers, 18-6

1st period: Looks like Davis will tear off his redshirt and take the mat for Penn State. That unfortunately doesn't bode well for his teammate Aaron Nagao, who had to withdraw from the Southern Scuffle after just one match. Davis is a true junior, having made the bloodround in 2024 at 125 and placing 5th last season at 133. Quick takedown for Davis and he has the lead over the true freshman from Rutgers. Escape makes its 3-1 after a minute. Davis stays aggressive. Snap down to a scramble and another takedown for Davis. 6-1. Another escape after Davis amasses 1:43 of riding time. 45 seconds left in the period, 6-2 Davis. And Davis drops on a single and runs the pike for three more. Davis rides out the period and it's 9-2 after three minutes.

2nd period: Parkins takes down. Davis cuts Parkins to make it 9-3. Action slows down some in the second and it's still 9-3 with 23 seconds left in the period. No more scores and we go to the third, still 9-3.

3rd period: Davis takes a turn underneath. He's out quickly and then back on a shot and it's 13-3 just like that. Riding time is locked up with over a minute left in the third period. Parkins stands and is out to make it 13-4. 30 seconds left in the period. Davis on the attack but Parkins downblocks and gets a go behind of his own, bringing things below a major even with RT. But Davis escapes and hits a double leg in short time. With the rideout and RT point it's a 18-6 major decision for Davis!

Penn State 11, Rutgers 0

149: #1 Shayne Van Ness pins Devon Magro, Rutgers, 4:54

1st period: No way to hide with PSU's lineup as it's the top-ranked 149-pounder in the nation next! New Jersey native Shayne Van Ness has a Pennsylvanian in Devon Magro. Drag to a leg attack to make it 3-0 after a minute of wrestling. Switch for Magro and he gets a reversal to make it 3-2. But Van Ness plays the Uno reversal card and switches Magro right back and it's a three point lead again, 5-2. Magro is let up for an escape, Van Ness doubles, then uses a leg to turn Magro (leg half?) then puts in an actual half nelson and he's got Magro on his back. Nearly a pin but Van Ness will have to settle for four nearfall points. 12-3 as the first period ends with Van Ness on top.

2nd period: Van Ness takes down and Magro able to ride him for about a minute. Van Ness on his feet but MAgro inside trips him from rear standing for a nice mat return. With about 30 seconds left int he period and Van Ness hip heists over Magro for a reversal. With a bottom leg turked Van Ness slaps on an assassin and he's got Magro on his back. Magro fighting with under ten seconds left in the period but Van Ness won't be denied, there's the fall!

Penn State 17, Rutgers 0

157: #3 PJ Duke, Penn State techs Easton Doster, Rutgers, 19-4

1st period: True freshman and 2025 Senior world teamer PJ Duke will go Penn State. It's a quick takedown for Duke and then a quick escape for Doster and it's 3-1 after less than a minute. Duke runs down a knee pick to make it 6-1. Another escape and Duke goes back to work with an underhook. Doster has no answer for Duake and it's 9-2 after 90 seconds of wrestling. Duke goes optional start, 9-3. Duke with a variety of attacks before he settles for a single leg and trip and it's 12-3. Another optional start, 12-4. Duke threatens with a cement job but Doster bellies out and it's 15-4 with 39 seconds left in the period. Duke rides out the period.

2nd period: Choice for PJ and he'll try out bottom. He stands, throws in a whizzer and he's out. Ankle pick (more like a shin pick but close enough) and Duke has a tech-fall 19-4!

Penn State 22, Rutgers 0

165: #1 Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State pins #26 Ryan Ford, Rutgers, 2:28

1st period: PSU going from strength to strength as they have three number ones in the final five weights. We're at the mid-dual break, by the way. And Mitchell comes sprinting out of the tunnel to face Ford and we're back to action. Mesenbrink pressuring in but Ford changes levels and gets behind Mesenbrink for a nifty counter takedown. Mesenbrink right out though and he's back on the attack. Takedown for Mesenbrink and it's 4-3. Mitchell working a cross-face cradle. Ford fights that off but Mesenbrink now has a hammer lock and claw and rolls Ford back for four nearfall. Releases the grip then goes back to it for four more and it's 12-3 with a minute left in the first. Mesenbrink goes back to the cross-face cradle and now he locks it up. Mesenbrink rocks back with the cradle and collects the fall!

Penn State 28, Rutgers 0

174: #1 Levi Haines , Penn State pins Jordan Chapman, Rutgers, 4:49

1st period: No Pinto for the Scarlet Knights so we'll get a Pennsylvanian for PSU and a New Jerseyan for Rutgers (the opposite of what we had a 149). Haines on the attack off the whistle and he gets the takedown. Chapman reaches back and looks for a lat whip but Haines defends, still 3-0. Penn State has the dual clinched by the way. Mesenbrink's pin put the team score out of reach. Haines cuts Chapman and then quickly converts a leg attack to make it 6-1. Haines mimics Mesenrbink with a hammerlock claw for four nearfall beefore CHapman fights off his back and nearly has a reversal. He'll settle for one escape. And I guess there were no nearfall because it's 6-2 on the scoreboard, sorry for fibbing. In neutral and looks like Chapman needs concussion protocol. Champman was in on a low shot and Haines downblocked with his own head and Chapman took the worst of it. After a breif interval, Chapman jogs back to the mat looking no worse for the wear. The period ends still 6-2 in favor of Haines.

2nd period: Haines takes a turn on bottom. The excellent Shane Sparks and Jim Gibbons on the call by the way. Should have mentioned that earlier. 78 dual wins in a row for Penn State (also by the way). Haines is out to make it 7-2. Single for Haines, he switches to a double and converts to make it 10-2. Escape for Chapman, Haines is relentless with the handfight and he drops down to a leg for the takedown. Bow and arrow on Chapman and Haines gets the fall! Foot was up by his ear and Chapman had nowhere to go. Two pinfalls in a row for PSU!

Penn State 34, Rutgers 0

184: #4 Rocco Welsh, Penn State majors #18 Shane Cartagena-Walsh, Rutgers, 13-3

1st period: Another ranked matchup with three bouts to go. Welsh on the attack early and he scores the first takedown. Shane Cartagena-Walsh (SCW to save time while blogging) excapes to make it 3-1, but Welsh back in on a leg attack and it's 6-1 less than halfway through the period. SCW is out again, 6-2. SCW shoots on a leg but Welsh defends and counters for a takedown of his own. 9-2 Walsh. Mat return on the edge of the mat for Welsh with just 10 seconds left in the period. Welsh rides out the first.

2nd period: Welsh takes bottom, and he's out in about 10 seconds to make it 10-2. Action slows down a bit, though an attack from Welsh induces a stall call on SCW. Welsh in on SCW's legs with 30 seconds left but Welsh can't finish in bounds and it's still 10-2. Second period ends.

3rd period: SCW underneath again. He's out quickly, 10-3. Another stall call on SCW as Welsh drops steps in. Shot defended but it's another point for Welsh for the stall call, 11-3. Welsh shoots SCW out of bounds and it's another stall call to make it 12-3. Welsh once again shoots SCW out of bounds but no stall call, but to the dismay of the fans in Rec Hall. Just noticed the Big Ten refs are wearing new custom polo shirts this season. Nice. Welsh has riding time locked up, and now the match clock runs down to zero to give Welsh the 13-3 major decision!

Penn State 38, Rutgers 0

197: #1 Josh Barr, Penn State techs #16 Remy Cotton, Rutgers, 18-3

1st period: Another ranked matchup and another number one ranked wrestler for Penn State. About a minute into the match Barr fires off a single leg attack, he cracks down on Cotton and collects the three points after 30 seconds of spirited defense from Cotton. Barr splits Cotton's legs though and Cotton has to fight off his back. It's gonna be four nearfall for Barr, can he end the match early? Cotton finally bellies out and it's 7-0 in short time in the first.

2nd period: Barr chooses bottom. Penn State hasn't lost a match in a dual meet since their dual against Wyoming on December 13 where Christian Carroll beat Mirasola at heavyweight. Barr is free and he collects another takedown halfway through the period. Barr cuts Cotton and it's 11-1 with 30 to go in the period. Cotton on a shot and potentially dangerous is called as Barr pulls on Cotton's leg to create an awkward angle on Cotton's knee. Period ends, still 11-1.

3rd period: Cotton goes back underneath. He's free to make it 11-2. Cotton fires off a double leg and Barr sprawls. Eventually Barr circles behind for three more. Optional start and it's 14-3 as we get close to the end of regulation. Barr counters another shot from Cotton and it's 17-3 with another takedown. Riding time is locked so a rideout would make it a tech-fall. Barr turks a leg but can't get a turn. He does get the ride out though so it's a 18-3 tech-fall after seven minutes of wrestling!

Penn State 43, Rutgers 0

285: #14 Cole Mirasola, Penn State decisions #21 Hunter Catka, Rutgers, 4-2

1st period: Final bout of the day and it is the most competitive on paper. Now we found out how competitive it is on the mat! Collar ties for the first minute. Mirasola shoots Catka off the mat and it's a stall on the Scarlet Knight 90 seconds into the match. Now Catka drops to a single leg, he's tight on the shin but Mirasola is defending. Catka tries to finish out the backdoor but Mirasola stymies him by grabbing Catka's far ankles. Stalemate with 16 seconds left in the period. We go to the second still 0-0.

2nd period: Mirasola chooses down and is out quickly to break the goose egg off the scoreboard. Counter attack from Catka has Mirasola hopping out of danger and we're back to collar ties in the center of the mat. One minute to go in the period. Another counter for Catka and this time he maintains his grip on Mirasola's legs. Mirasola goes over the top and defends for a stalemate. Mirasola reaches in for a leg but Catka sprawls and the period ends, still 1-0 Mirasola.

3rd period: Catka's turn on bottom. Catka's out in a little less than 30 seconds and it's 1-1. Catka on another shot but Mirasola able to stop the finish and they're scrambling. Mirasola gains some leverage and he'll get the pivotal takedown. Under a minute and Mirasola is riding, up 4-1. Somersault for Catka and he escapes before riding time gets too high. 30 seconds to go, 4-2 Mirasola. No stall calls on Mirasola so Catka has his work cut out for him. Under 10. Catka attacking but Mirasola defends to complete the shut out!
