PA Stars Shine At Beast Of The East And Powerade
Some of Pennsylvania high school wrestling's biggest stars shined at two of the nation's top tournaments.

The final results of the 2025 calendar year are in the books — and Pennsylvania finished the year strong. Between the Beast of the East and Powerade, check out some of the biggest Pennsylvania high school storylines that capped off 2025.
Bo Bassett and Melvin Miller Co-Outstanding Wrestler Award Winners At Beast
The Bishop McCort duo of Bo Bassett and Melvin Miller put on a clinic at the 2025 Beast of the East. Bassett picked up six technical falls, including a 15-0 win in the finals over #2 Charlie Desena of Lake Highland Prep in a Super 32 final rematch. Bassett outscored his opponents 117-20 on his way to the 150-pound title.
Meanwhile, Miller — coming off a loss in the Ironman finals to Jayden James — was wrestling with a chip on his shoulder, and it showed. He opened his tournament with a fall, then picked up five technical falls in which he never made it past the second period for the 165-pound title. These incredible performances earned Bassett and Miller the Co-Outstanding Wrestler Award. For Bassett, it was his fourth Outstanding Wrestler award in the last two months after taking the honor at Super 32, Bill Farrell, and Ironman.

Jax Forrest Wins Fourth Powerade Title, Announces Early Enrollment To Oklahoma State
After competing in just two duals since winning the U23 World Championships at 61 kg in October, #1 Jax Forrest made his much-anticipated return to the mat at Powerade last week. Coming into the tournament, Forrest and his Bishop McCort teammate Bo Bassett were looking to join the exclusive group of four-time Powerade champions, as only six wrestlers had ever accomplished this feat before.
Unfortunately, Bassett was forced to withdraw from the tournament prior to the competition getting underway due to illness. Forrest bonused his way to the 139-pound finals, including a 9-1 major decision over #7 Dale Corbin in the semifinals. That set up the main event of the finals between #1 Forrest and #4 Karson Brown of St. Edward.
In typical Forrest fashion, the match delivered, and despite Brown making an incredible push to make the comeback after going down 15-2, Forrest was able to close it out with a late takedown to become just the seventh four-time Powerade champion, with a 20-13 victory.
Following the match, Forrest made his official announcement that he will be enrolling at Oklahoma State for the second semester and is still deciding whether he will be greyshirting and training with the Cowboy RTC this season or redshirting and training with the college team. Either way, this is certainly unprecedented in high school wrestling and Forrest will look to continue to do great things at the next level.

Pennsylvania High School Premium Rankings
Check out the Pennsylvania High School Wrestling Premium Rankings, which are generated by using an athlete’s complete match history to predict a wrestler’s performance against others in their weight class by considering factors such as win-loss records, the quality of their victories (pins, technical falls, major decisions), the strength of their opponents, and overall historical performance patterns.
The data is updated every Monday, sourced from the Trackwrestling season results. Since each team is responsible for maintaining its season results, any data discrepancies for a wrestler should be addressed by contacting their coach to manage the information within the season. This includes the weight class assigned. Wrestlers are eligible to be ranked after competing in five matches at a single weight.
