The Ohio State and Oregon State wrestling programs have met nine times, but only twice since the turn of the century.

The teams rekindled their rivalry last season, and Ohio State’s home victory gave the Buckeyes a 5-4 advantage in the series.

On Jan. 4, Oregon State will play host, looking to even the series on its own home turf at the Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon.

The clash will get underway at 5 p.m. Eastern, live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app.

When the Beavers visited the Buckeyes last January, it was their first meeting since the 2000-2001 season. It also was the Beavers’ first trip to Columbus, Ohio, since the 1994-1995 campaign.

Oregon State won the 2000-2001 dual 23-13, but the Buckeyes finally got their redemption after more than two decades, winning 40-3 in 2025.

This season has been a busy and successful one for Ohio State, which recently enjoyed a couple of weeks at the top of the FloWrestling NCAA DI Wrestling Rankings as the first team in more than four years to take the spot from four-time defending national champion Penn State.

The surge to the top was fueled by a significant win for Ohio State at the inaugural National Duals Invitational in mid-November, beating Iowa in the championship showdown for the title and unprecedented $200,000 top prize.

The event featured 11 of the top 12 teams from the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships and eight of the top 10 teams from this season’s early rankings.

Penn State has since returned to the No. 1 spot, with Ohio State 20 points back in second place. Oregon State also received some attention and landed in a tie for No. 23 in the latest rankings.

Ohio State heads west to Oregon with a perfect record in dual action this season – 10-0 – and fresh off victories over Little Rock and Iowa State at the 2025 Journeymen Collegiate National Duals on Dec. 21.

Oregon State has seen limited head-to-head competition this year, but has been to a handful of open events and invitationals.

The Beavers are 2-0 this season and will enjoy a weekend at the Midlands Championships in Illinois on Dec. 29-30, before returning home to welcome the Buckeyes.
