Which NCAA Wrestling Program 'Won' The 2025 US Open?
We look at the results of the 2025 US Open and try to figure out which college team did the best in Las Vegas!

To put a bow on our coverage of the 2025 US Open, we decided to look at the results from the senior and U20 men's freestyle tournaments and try and determine if any college program 'won' either or both tournaments.
We took all eight placewinners of those two tournaments and assigned point values based on the UWW team scoring rubric, which goes as follows:
1st: 25
2nd: 20
3rd: 15
4th: 10
5th: 8
6th: 6
7th: 4
8th: 2
Ours is actually slightly different than UWW's points rubric because UWW tournaments have double bronzes and award points out to ten places but it's close enough for our purposes.
We also assigned points to schools where the placing wrestlers train, attend, or have committed to attend. If a wrestler graduated from one school but now trains at another, we credit those points for the school at which he is now training, not the one from which he graduated. Whether that is the correct method or not is debatable, but that's what we did!
The results are as follows:

Please bear in mind that these rankings and the program 'winners' are based on a made-up and arbitrary process. The wrestlers of schools and clubs have various reasons to enter and not enter the Open, none of which include winning the distinction of having Flo declare their program the 'winner'.
That said, if you think we made an error in calculations or point attributions, by all means, let us know!
Now let's all get pumped for the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament!
