Participants must be 23 or younger, so this tournament had a college vibe with a light high school presence. Several participants recently completed their college eligibility but met the 23-and-under age requirement. 

This was an opportunity for NAIA and NCAA programs to face off in the same national tournament weeks after their college national championships, which were held separately.
