Former gi specialist Levi Jones-Leary is headed to ADCC on the heels of a stellar ADCC Trials performance in Thailand, where he defeated six opponents without conceding a point, and secured two submissions.

Jones-Leary worked his back attack specialty throughout the tournament, completing matrix backtakes, berimbolos, and traditional backtakes from guard passes. His berimbolo against Jeremy Skinner in the final gave him the go-ahead three points to advance to gold, earning him the last available spot in the 77kg division of ADCC 2024.

Jones-Leary will be joined by fellow Australian Adele Fornarino at ADCC 2024, following Fornarino's perfect run at the ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials in Thailand. Fornarino secured a triangle, two vicious Mir locks and a rear naked choke in the final to punch her return ticket to ADCC. At her debut appearance in 2022, she fell to would-be champion Ffion Davies in the first round.

Australian Lucas Kanard will join the 88kg roster at ADCC after submitting four of his five opponents in Thailand. Those included two lighting fast heel hooks, a triangle armbar from the mount. In the final, he hit an outside heel hook at the midway point of the match. His sole survivor was ADCC veteran Roberto Dib Frias, whom he beat via decision.

At -99kg, it was Australian Daniel Schuardt, who submitted three of his four opponents to earn his spot at ADCC. He secured a kneebar and two rear naked chokes before a 3-0 victory in the final.

At 66kg, Chinese athlete Huaiqing Xu won six matches to earn his spot in ADCC's division with the youngest average age. The 21-year old submitted two opponents on his run to gold, and won gold in a back and forth scrap against Japanese David Yonekura.

Kazakh athlete Mansur Makhmakhanov won the +99kg division with two submissions in three matches: a cloverleaf leg lock and — in the final — an omoplata-face crank.

In the women's +65kg division, Nikki Lloyd-Griffiths earned her return to ADCC with a submission in her opening round, and a disqualification due to slam in the final.

In the women's -65kg division, Sula-Mae Loewenthal defeated four opponents with three submissions, including a triangle-ambar over division favorite Nadia Frankland in the final.

The 2nd ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials brought the 2024 Trials season to an end. Only a few invites remain for the 2024 ADCC World Championships, coming to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV on Aug. 17-18.
