In semifinals of the Last Chance Olympic Team Trials Qualifier, high school sophomore Bo Bassett won by tech over NCAA champ Anthony Ashnault.
High school sophomore Bo Bassett notched the most impressive victory of his young career Sunday in the semifinals of the Last Chance Olympic Team Trials Qualifier. The Bishop McCort Pennsylvania state champ took out Rutgers 2019 NCAA champion Anthony Ashnault with 12-2 technical superiority win.
Bassett's victory puts him one match away from qualifying for the US Olympic Trials later this month. To do that, he'll need to get past Princeton All-American Matthew Kolodzik in the finals which will take place on Sunday afternoon.
Before his win over Ashnault, Bassett also defeated Penn State's David Evans, Cal Baptist's Dayne Morton, and top-seeded Aden Valencia who will be a freshman at Stanford next year.
