Imagine a deep domestic rivalry that the U.S. borders can’t contain. That’s what happened at the recent 2024 Tallinn Open in Estonia.

Jordyn Fouse and Isis France extended a rivalry that began on March 18, 2022, at the Girls Folkstyle National Championships. The two have met eight times over two years and continue to play their own game of tennis. 

Fouse evened the series with a thrilling 7-6 win over France in the Tallinn Open finals at 61 kg — a match that saw Fouse take a 7-2 lead with under 30 seconds left before France stormed back in the closing moments with four unanswered points. 

Both attend high school in Pennsylvania despite hailing from different states. France is from Phoenix, Arizona, and attends Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, while Fouse is from Roaring Spring and attends Bishop McCort in Johnstown. 

Fouse recently won the 136-pound class at the first sanctioned Pennsylvania girls’ state wrestling championships with a fall over national #1 Haylie Jaffe of Kennett in the finals.

France won the 138-pound class at the National Prep Championships with a 7-4 win over Daniella Nugent of Phillips Andover in the finals.
