Quarterfinals

After surrendering opening takedowns in his first two matches of the tournament, Carter Starocci battled to an impressive 4-0 victory over 2019 NCAA champ Mekhi Lewis. The victory moves Starocci to 4-0 against Lewis. He will see 2021 NCAA champ Shane Griffith in Friday night's semifinal round.

For the second round in a row, Starocci surrendered the first takedown of the match, and for the second match in a row, he came back to secure a decision. Starocci moves on to the quarterfinals tomorrow where he'll see 2019 NCAA champion Mekhi Lewis of Virginia Tech. Starocci is 3-0 against Lewis in their careers.

Round of 32: Carter Starocci, Penn State dec Andrew Sparks, Minnesota 12-6

After giving up the first takedown of the match, Starocci escaped then earned a takedown and 4 nearfall in the first period. In the second, he added another takedown to take an 11-3 lead. He gave up an escape and a stall call in the second then gave up another escape and stall call in the third. A riding time point made it a 12-6 victory for Starocci.
