Sherese Pittman, Stony Brook

Pittman averaged 26.0 points per game on 56.3 percent (18-32) shooting with 8.5 rebounds per contest, leading Stony Brook to a 2-0 weekend and at least a share of the CAA Regular Season title. On Sunday, the junior forward poured in a career-best 30 points, shooting 9-of-14 from the floor, with nine rebounds and four assists as the Seawolves topped North Carolina A&T 76-62 in a battle of the top two teams in the conference standings. The performance came after 22 points on Friday – which was her season-high for two whole days – adding eight rebounds, four blocks and three steals in a 60-58 victory at Drexel. Pittman went 8-for-12 in the second half, scoring 20 points after the break to help the Seawolves overcome a 19-point deficit against the Dragons.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Taylor Henderson, UNCW

Henderson averaged a double-double over the weekend, contributing 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game for the Seahawks. On Sunday, the redshirt freshman notched her second career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds against Towson, adding three assists and one steal. It marks her sixth 20-point performance this season. On Friday, Henderson had 13 points, nine rebounds, three steals and one assist versus William & Mary. She has reached double figures in back-to-back games and 17 times this season.

WEEKLY HONORS:

SEAWOLVES EYE REGULAR SEASON TITLE: Stony Brook clinched at least a share of the CAA Regular Season title following a 2-0 weekend and a win over second-place North Carolina A&T on Sunday. The Seawolves can win the title outright and secure the top seed in the conference tournament with a win over Hampton on Thursday. 

TIES TOP TO BOTTOM: Entering the final week of the regular season in CAA Women’s Basketball, there are ties in the conference standings for second place, fourth place, seventh place, ninth place and 12th place. Monmouth and N.C. A&T are second at 12-4, while Charleston and William & Mary follow in fourth at 11-5. Drexel and Campbell are knotted at 8-8 in seventh, followed by Delaware and Elon at 6-10 in ninth. Additionally, Hampton, Hofstra and UNCW are 3-12 in 12th. 

THE FINISH LINE IN SIGHT: It is the final week of CAA Women’s Basketball, with a slight alteration to the normal schedule. Teams will play Thursday before closing out the regular season on Saturday. All seven teams will be in action on both days. Among the highlights include a championship game rematch on Thursday as Towson hosts Monmouth at 7 p.m. It features two of the hottest teams in the league, both riding five-game winning streaks. 

NOTHING BUT NET: As of Monday, March 4, Stony Brook remained in the top 100 of the NCAA NET Rankings at No. 68, while North Carolina A&T and Charleston cracked the top 150 at No. 137 and No. 148, respectively. Additionally, Monmouth (152), William & Mary (169), Towson (172), Drexel (180) and Delaware (193) remained among the top 200. 

CAA HOOPS IN THE MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Three CAA teams were recognized in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Stony Brook remained ranked, at No. 11, while North Carolina A&T and Monmouth received votes. It marks the first recognition for the Hawks this season, while at least one conference team has been recognized in every poll, with multiple teams acknowledged in 15 of 17 weeks.  

TEAM NOTES:

Campbell

• Campbell went 1-1 this weekend, defeating Delaware (66-65) on Friday before a setback to Drexel (59-54) on Sunday. Four Camels reached double figures in both contests. 

• Shy Tuelle paced Campbell with 12.5 points per game. She tallied 14 points on Friday and 11 on Sunday. Tuelle has reached double figures in three straight games and 14 this season. 

• On Friday, Gemma Núñez scored a season-high 14 points with eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal.

Charleston 

• Charleston split its games this weekend, falling to Towson (67-55) on Friday before bouncing back with a win over William & Mary (77-72) on Sunday.

• Jada Logan averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. On Friday, she had 25 points for her seventh 20-point effort this season. 

• Jenna Annecchiarico averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. She had 21 points and six assists in the victory, marking her ninth game with 20 or more this winter.

Delaware

• Delaware dropped back-to-back games at home this weekend, falling narrowly to Campbell (66-65) on Friday and Elon (54-49) on Sunday. 

• Chloe Wilson paced UD with 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Wilson tallied her third 20-point effort this season with 22 on Friday. 

• Ande’a Cherisier reached double figures in both games with 11 points on Friday and 15 on Sunday. She has at least 10 points in 12 games this winter. 

Drexel 

• Drexel went 1-1 in a pair of close games this weekend, falling to Stony Brook (60-58) on Friday before a victory over Campbell (59-54) on Sunday. 

• Amaris Baker averaged 16.0 points per game to lead Drexel. Baker tallied a career-high 21 points against SBU before 11 on Sunday, marking 15 games in double figures this year.

• On Sunday, Hetta Saatman notched a career-high 15 points in the victory. On Friday, Jasmine Valentine matched a career-high with 11 points off the bench. 

Elon 

• Elon defeated Delaware 54-49 on the road Sunday. The Phoenix outscored 36-28 in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit and emerge victoriously.

• Vanessa Taylor paced the Phoenix with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Taylor has reached double figures in six games this season.

• Ajia James added 11 points off the bench and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds in the effort. It marks her ninth game with 10 or more points this winter. 

Hampton 

• Hampton went 1-1 over the weekend, edging Hofstra (48-42) on Friday before falling to Northeastern (64-60) on Sunday. The win snapped a seven-game skid for Hampton.

• On Sunday, Cheyenne Talbot scored a team-high 15 points, marking her ninth game in double figures this season. Talbot averaged 11.0 points per game for the weekend. 

• On Friday, Camryn Hill scored nine of her team-high 12 points in the first quarter. It marks her 18th game in double figures this season. 

Hofstra 

• Hofstra went 0-2 at home this weekend, falling to Hampton (48-42) on Friday before a setback to Monmouth (66-50) on Sunday.

• On Friday, Sorelle Ineza reached double figures with a game-high 13 points. It marks her seven double-digit scoring effort in the past eight games and her 13th this winter.

• On Friday, Zyheima Swint grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to lead the effort on the glass. It marks her eighth game with 10 or more rebounds this season. 

Monmouth

• Monmouth defeated Hofstra 66-50 on the road Sunday. The Hawks extended their winning streak to five and their road win streak to 11 straight games with the win.

• Jania Hall paced Monmouth with 13 points off the bench. Hall went 3-of-6 from the floor and 7-for-7 at the charity stripe for her 13th game in double figures this winter.

• Taisha Exanor and Ariana Vanderhoop reached double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. It marked the fifth straight game with 10 or more for Vanderhoop. 

North Carolina A&T

• N.C. A&T went 1-1 over the weekend. The Aggies defeated Northeastern (69-55) on Friday before falling to Stony Brook (76-62) on Sunday. 

• Chaniya Clark averaged 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Clark recorded her fifth double-double this season with a season-high 19 points and 12 rebounds at NU.

• D’Mya Tucker reached double figures in back-to-back games with 11 on Friday and a team-high 16 on Sunday. Tucker has 10 or more points in 18 games this season. 

UNCW

• UNCW dropped back-to-back games at home this weekend. The Seahawks fell to William & Mary (68-50) on Friday before a setback to Towson (78-56) on Sunday. 

• Taylor Henderson averaged 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Henderson notched her second career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds versus TU.

• Evan Miller reached double figures in both contests, adding 11 points on Friday and 14 on Sunday. Miller has at least 10 points in 16 games this season.  

Northeastern 

• Northeastern went 1-1 this weekend, falling to N.C. A&T (69-55) on Friday before topping Hampton (64-60) on Sunday. The win snapped an eight-game skid for NU. 

• Derin Erdogan averaged 20.0 points and 4.5 assists per game. She tallied a game-high 25 points in the victory for her fifth effort with 20 or more this season. Additionally, she has reached double figures in 23 games this year.  

• On Sunday, Sophia Carlisle tallied career highs with 12 points and nine rebounds. The freshman added 9.0 ppg this weekend.

Stony Brook 

• Stony Brook went 2-0 this weekend and clinched at least a share of the CAA Regular Season title, following wins over Drexel (60-58) and N.C. A&T (76-62). 

• Sherese Pittman averaged 26.0 points per game on 56.3 percent (18-32) shooting with 8.5 rebounds per contest. She had a career-high 30 points versus A&T after 22 at Drexel, marking 20 games in double figures this year.

• Shamarla King also reached double figures in both games, adding 11.5 ppg off the bench. She has 10 or more seven times this winter.

Towson 

• Towson extended its winning streak to five games following a 2-0 weekend. The Tigers defeated Charleston (67-55) on Friday before beating UNCW (78-56) on Sunday.

• Patricia Anumgba averaged 19.0 points per game on 50.0 percent (13-26) shooting. Anumgba has 22 points on Friday, marking her sixth 20-point effort this season. 

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas reached double figures in both games with 13 points on Friday and 12 on Sunday. Kornegay-Lucas has reached double figures 18 times this season. 

William & Mary

• W&M went 1-1 on the road this weekend, defeating UNCW (68-50) on Friday before falling to Charleston (77-72) on Sunday. 

• Nylah Young had 24.0 points per game to pace W&M. On Sunday, Young matched a career-high with 32 points and added 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double this season.

• On Friday, Kayla Beckwith added a season-high 13 points in 15 minutes off the bench, while Rebekah Frisby-Smith notched her first career double-double (10p, 10r) on Sunday.
